yeah. if ullman is involved deeply as it now seems...it really makes the mayor look good in light of past events and disputes.

however just because she was in charge of orchestrating the once every three year meeting...and now claims she was trying to tell the mayor about the committee...even when he was trying to fire here as already running a duplicate service in the hhs (it was actually a triplicit service it appears) maybe we should wait awhile before passing judgement. who knows...maybe theres another board that was quadrupilicating services?

helene must be one of governments biggest fans.

Quadrupilicating services, quadrupilicating the costs perhaps? :?:

Wouldn't that be something! ;)

Didn;'t the INDOT people say the same thing happened when they tried to talk to mcmayor about the 9 span project? Then he came out whuning he was kept in the dark?

So what you are saying is that the Mayors efforts to keep the nine span bridge at its same dimensions equalls Helene Uhlman turning her back on the mass amount of salary and complete disregard of the Healthy Start Initiative?

Not telling IDOT that there is talk of a intermodal system coming to Hammond is in no way on the same level.

Sure it is. He has jeapordized Hammond's chances of getting an intermodal facility by being unwilling to talk to people who have some input into the decision. What's the matter with him anyway? Unfortuneately, the Times has wiped out all the old threads or I could easily prove it to you.

indot has already agreed to not build the lower/shorter nine span bridge. so i fail to see how the intermodel is being prohibited from the project...since they got exactly what they needed.

the intermodel will come or not come based on the market demand. as it should be. and the mayor (and indot) wound up working together to make sure the bridge project wouldnt harm that opportunity.

Why hasn't INDOT's decision made it into the local media? The Times was following this story pretty closely and has NOT reported what you just said.

Because you didnt read it doesnt mean it didnt happen. Two different posters agree that the Intermodal is still a possability and you are still trying to compare it to Helene Uhlmans involvement in the Healthy Start boondoggle. That just doesnt make any sense.

No word of it on the INDOT website.

That's not a boondoggle. That's just yet another bridge to nowhere. :D

I suppose they could have just sent the $200,000 to the various health departments to buy the pills & injections, but then there would be 20 less bureaucrats to waste $1,000,000 on.

It's hard to know what the real situation is, because of all the spinning that is going on. Hopefully, one of the papers will take a good, close look at all of this and report on what's really going on. I can see where the salaries might be the bulk of the spending in this program, but I would hope they are actually HELPING girls and women to have healthier babies and not playing politics for someone on our dimne. And since the title Of this thread mentions mcmayor's brain, I really wonder if he is open to communication from people who know about things like this? Why let 3 years go by before stumbling upon it, like he apparently did?

Funny how this comes to light AFTER Uhlman is let go. Did she ever send a memo? Did she leave a message with his office. It laid unfestered for three years because the people involved were happy the way things were going. Not until Hammond put in a new Health Department Head did the Mayor get invited.

What is your source for that information?

Common sense! Do you have a source that says he was invited? Or that says anything different?

Who's to say? I certainly don't know. But if Uhlman is telling the truth, the mayor refused to meet with a dept head, for whatever reason. What was she supposed to do, sky write it? I'm sure she had a lot of other things that she wanted to meet with him about, not just this.

That's if she's telling the truth. I haven't a clue.
