Common sense! Do you have a source that says he was invited? Or that says anything different?
NO I don't. Which is why I freely admit what I am saying on this subject is strictly MY OPINION, unlike you, who makes a fstatement of :"fact" based on ":common sense." I did read the NWITimes story in which Helene Uhlman said in print what she did about mcmayor blowing her off. I didn't see any stories in which mcmayor denied her charge.

Funny how this comes to light AFTER Uhlman is let go. Did she ever send a memo? Did she leave a message with his office. It laid unfestered for three years because the people involved were happy the way things were going. Not until Hammond put in a new Health Department Head did the Mayor get invited.

Who's to say? I certainly don't know. But if Uhlman is telling the truth, the mayor refused to meet with a dept head, for whatever reason. What was she supposed to do, sky write it? I'm sure she had a lot of other things that she wanted to meet with him about, not just this.

That's if she's telling the truth. I haven't a clue.

helene has a long established track record of not telling the truth

I highly doubt that her wanting to meet with the mayor was to inform him that she has been involved with the Healthy Start program for the last three years and all they do is approve claims and oh yah mayor you are on the board too. If she couldnt get to the Mayor then why didnt she go to the Board of Health. Had she done that she may still be employed. It will be very hard to defend her actions regardless of whoever else gets the blame.

indot has already agreed to not build the lower/shorter nine span bridge. so i fail to see how the intermodel is being prohibited from the project...since they got exactly what they needed.

the intermodel will come or not come based on the market demand. as it should be. and the mayor (and indot) wound up working together to make sure the bridge project wouldnt harm that opportunity.

Wonder wqhy INDOT didn't tell me this when I inquired?

Good morning

Thank you for contacting the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). We appreciate you taking the time to write. I am forwarding your question to INDOT’s Customer Service Manager, Angie Fegaras, for a response. Once a determination has been made Angie will respond to you and me with the appropriate information.

Has INDOT made a decision on the replacement of the 9 Span bridge?

Actually, that's not an unreasonable expectation, to have a government agency give it plans on what they intend to do about a certain project. Especially if the mayor is saying it's not going to be done in a manner to inhibit the intermodal. If's he's privy to that info (and I'm not implying that he isn't) and INDOT has made it's decision, why wouldn't free have the expectation that they would share?

If they had a definite answer on the size and length of the bridge we would all know! There would be no reason to call. In my experience it is hard to get an answer from any government entity if that decision has not made positively.

Read Oracle's post above that I quoted! He says the mayor recently announced that a positive determination HAD been made. Since I hadn't seen that reported anywhere, I decided to check for myself and found out NO DETERMINATION has been made. It always pays to double check on things, IMO, when there is reason to doubt the reliability of someone's pronouncements.

So freetime are you willing to say that IDOT is going to make that bridge a three span and lower it? If you are I would like to know what your source of information is.

I have to disagree with freetime on this one. unless she comes up with proof. The ball is in your court freetime.
