OVER 500 people came to the Cindy Sheehan meeting which took place at IUN, Tamarack Hall, from 7:30pm to about 10PM, this evening. It was a GREAT SUCCESS, and I was very glad to be there. I took a lot of pictures, but since the hall was kinda dark, the pics came out kinda dark, but the speakers came out good. Cindy seems to be a VERY sweet woman, and talks SO, SO tender and light. She was dressed like a peace mom, very simple and modest with jeans and a sweat shirt; printed on the front of it, was, IMPEACH BUSH! It was a GREAT evening, and she was given an Indian peace pipe, the Indian symbol of the Calumet Region from a daughter of a man who is in Iraq, and whose family lives in Highland. Nice evening, I'm glad I went! I was seated seven rows from the speaker stand, right in the middle! Perfect view! Now, if I could just see Nancy and Jane!

UPDATE: Cindy will be in WASHINGTON DC, along w/10,000 mothers to protest the Iraqi conflict! I might go too; she really inspired the people last night at her peace rally at IUN. The protest will be sometime next week.

UPDATE: This meeting is to force congressmen to stop funding that Iraqi conflict. Great idea!

Chavez: Troops to escort oil takeovers Fri Apr 13, 5:32 AM ET

President Hugo Chavez said Thursday that soldiers will accompany government officials when they take over oil projects in the Orinoco River basin next month.

Chavez has decreed that Petroleos de Venezuela SA, or PDVSA, will take a minimum 60 percent stake in four heavy-oil projects in the Orinoco River region and invited the six private companies operating there to stay on as minority partners.

"On May 1 we are going to take control of the oil fields," Chavez said. "I'm sure no transnational company is going to draw a shotgun, but we will go with the armed forces and the people."

The projects — run by BP PLC, Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp., ConocoPhillips, France's Total SA and Norway's Statoil ASA — upgrade heavy, tar-like crude into more marketable oils and are considered Venezuela's most promising. As older fields elsewhere go into decline, development of the Orinoco is seen as key to Venezuela's future production.

Negotiations over the takeover have yet to yield an agreement and are expected to be difficult as the companies seek a deal that takes into account more than $17 billion in investments and loans related to the projects.

Chavez has been given special powers by congress for 18 months to issue laws by decree in energy and other areas, which he has also used to nationalize the country's biggest telecommunications company and electricity company.

Chavez has justified the nationalizations as necessary to give the government control of sectors strategic to Venezuela's interests.

GREAT IDEA! What took SO long for this nationalization of THEIR oil? Mexico did hers during the Hitler/Roosevelt era of the 1930's. PS~~~~:lol:

If it's so great, why the big push for all "your people" to get out? Why don't they stay and make it better? I'll tell you why. There are NO handouts, No free rides.

This country is run by a bunch of chumps and are free to hand out the money to anyone with a hard luck story..........First thing I'd like to see, is the FBI go into that church in Chicago and arrest that idiot that has been hiding out for the past nine months. Then send her illegal a$$ back to Tacoland.

CINDY UPDATE: In a week or so, there's supposed to be a march in Washington DC potesting the conflict in Iraq. It willl be lead by Peace Mom, Chindy Sheehan, along w/10,000 other peace moms! Be there or be square!
