Hammond continues to use taxpayer money in election year political giveaways.
First the city decided to offer college scholarships to the children of homeowners, using casiono funds that belong legally to ALL residents of the city. NOw, the city is offering grants to help with house down payments for families earning up to $99,000.
I don't know which "genius" in the administration came up with the title for this new program, but someone should tell him or her that "Homebound" is already taken! Also that IT IS NOT A GOOD THING!

Looks to me like hammond officals are desperate to keep residents from leaving city and paying off others to move in.

With the new hike in property taxes It looks they may have to spend more casino revenue to get new residents.

They better enjoy while they have it. Because in yesterday's times The tax rate for casinos may double according to the assessor's office.

The casino dough just has to hold out until the election, I think that's the hope by some interested in retaining the status quo anyway.

So are we May, and freetime wonders why she got banned from the times board. The title of this thread explains it. A good program to help people become home owners, and she calls it a bribe. I guess she is an expert on bribes to use that term so loosely.

I just used plain laniguage. At leasst two other people on the otrher board commented on the folly of this program, that the people whp really let this program persuade them to buy houses can't really afford them. If you don't think the timing of the announcement, less than two weeks before the election, is politically motivated then YOU are gullible.
