Don't fall for Palin

John McSame's pick of Sarah Palin for vice president: How transparent pandering for votes is this? Maybe McCain could also save a puppy or a baby whale on television. To think this bubbly beauty queen less than two years as a governor could be a heartbeat away from the presidency of the U.S. -- how scary is this? This is not Hillary-caliber experience. This is more like the Andy of Mayberry show. How desperate is this guy? Hillary voters, don't fall for this one. -- Schererville

And yet she has far far more experience that the democratic presidential candidate.

The U.S. Steel Yard is a very nice ballpark, and a great inexpensive place for a family outing. The RailCats are a championship team. Why aren't the baseball fans in the region supporting them better?

It doesn't matter how children are born into this world. The important thing is that they are loved and nurtured afterward. We, too, have a special needs child, and sometimes I think he's more intelligent than some of the so-called political experts who are mere morons.

Why aren't bills out?

Since the first installment of our property taxes will be guesstimates, common sense would have required these bills be sent out in May as required rather than waiting until September. -- Highland

Please, help; my Gary sewer bill is more than $100! Not only that, my usage rate is always the same; even when we are on vacation, the usage rate never changes. We can't afford this bill. And now, the mayor has gone to representatives of Indiana American Water and the Gary Sanitary District to request funds to help with the budget crisis in Gary. If any funds are given to the mayor, guess who has to pay it back? We, the citizens of Gary.

It doesn't seem like there's much road paving going on this year. I'm sure by spring, roads will be crumbling.

The only reason anybody is questioning Sarah Palin about anything is because John McCain's age. We run the chance of him dying in office so do you want her running your country when he does? Kinda like Lyndon Baines Johnson when JFK died.

That's it. I'm buying lottery tickets from liquor stores from now on because that's twice within six months that somebody has won from a ticket they purchased in the liquor store.

Tuesday news item, "Oil drops another $2 to $104 a barrel." Same day, gas prices go up 25 to 30 cents a gallon. What is up with that?

I think the Gary Chamber of Commerce should try to get Wal-Mart to build in downtown Gary. Tear down those old buildings. That grocery store at 25th Avenue and Grant Street was a fiasco. But maybe Wal-Mart would help revive downtown Gary.

Where are the morals?

What is with The Times? Monday page A19 Seth Rogen on his new movie about making a porno? This is not family news. He loves to watch porn, etc. If this is what The Times believes is good for families, refund my subscription. I don't care about his sex drive, no wonder there are so many confused teens out there. Where are the morals of the people working there? -- Crown Point

Betting on GOP

The Republicans have given us an aged, trigger-happy warrior and a cute little religious nut case and are betting, once again, that Americans are as dumb as they think we are. I’m betting on their bet. -- Munster

Everybody is so worried that Sarah Palin has too many children to be vice president and possibly president. Nobody worries about Obama having kids, or Clinton, or the countless of other presidents who had kids. Gimme a break.

It's not sexist to wonder who Sarah Palin will attend to first, her family or our country.
