Rue McClanahan Dead at 76 Emmy-winning legend Rue McClanahan, who played Blanche Devereaux for seven seasons on the NBC sitcom 'Golden Girls,' has died after suffering a stroke, PEOPLE reports. She was 76. "She passed away at 1 a.m. this morning. She had a massive stroke," her manager, Barbara Lawrence, said. McClanahan "had her family with her. She went in peace," Lawrence added. The actress was best known for her role as the saucy Blanche Deveraux on 'Girls.' McClanahan had a stroke earlier this year, when she was recovering from heart bypass surgery. Her 'Golden' co-stars Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur passed away in July of 2008 and April of 2009, respectively. |

Former NBA star Manute Bol dead at 47 CNN) -- Manute Bol, one of the tallest players in NBA history, died Saturday at the age of 47, a spokeswoman with the University of Virginia Medical Center confirmed to CNN. The hospital did not disclose the cause of death. Bol, who was listed at 7-feet-7 inches tall and 225 pounds, played for the Washington Bullets, Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat in his 10-year career. |
