Comedian Robert Schimmel dies after car accident in Arizona

Image

Comedian Robert Schimmel, known for his foul-mouthed routines and appearances on "The Howard Stern Show," died last night after suffering serious injuries in a car accident.

Schimmel was traveling in Arizona with his 19-year-old daughter, Aliyah, who was driving at the time of the crash.

The car rolled onto the side of the freeway after she tried to avoid an oncoming collision, according to Schimmel's spokesman Howard Bragman.

Also in the car was Schimmel’s 11-year-old son, who was not injured. His daughter is expected to make a full recovery.

Diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2000, Schimmel overcame the disease and went on to write a book about his experience, "Cancer on $5 a Day (chemo not included)."

The 60-year-old comedian was known for his dark satire and perverse content.

Comedian Greg Giraldo Dead After Drug Overdose

'Last Comic Standing' judge Greg Giraldo has died, friends of the comedian confirmed today on Twitter.

Giraldo was rushed to a New Jersey hospital Saturday night after overdosing on prescription pills. Though previous reports described the incident as a suicide attempt, there was no indication Giraldo tried to take his own life.

The 44-year-old father of four, who has dealt with substance abuse troubles in the past, was scheduled to perform at the Stress Factory comedy club in New Brunswick Saturday night and the New York Recovery Rally at Randall's Island Park in NYC earlier in the day to honor National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.

Think they'll have a moment of silence at the drug recovery ceremony? Or maybe lift a glass in his memory - teehee!
