Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. --- Abraham Lincoln

So let us begin anew - remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate.

Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belabouring those problems which divide us.

Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms - and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations.

Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce.

Let both sides unite to heed in all corners of the earth the command of Isaiah - to "undo the heavy burdens -. and to let the oppressed go free."

And if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion, let both sides join in creating a new endeavour, not a new balance of power, but a new world of law, where the strong are just and the weak secure and the peace preserved.

All this will not be finished in the first 100 days. Nor will it be finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than in mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.

Now the trumpet summons us again - not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are - but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation" - a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself.

Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort?

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility - I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavour will light our country and all who serve it -- and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country ---

Inaugural address of John F. Kennedy, Jan 20, 1961
________________

I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, "Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!"

Martin Luther King, I Have a Dream

_____________

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer."

Barack Obama, Nov 4, 2008, Chicago, IL

Thank you. That was refreshing. :D

Great examples of the poor choices we have and had to run this country. George Bush 1&2 both stupid and inept with no sense of fiduciary duty whatsoever. Backtrack O'bama and Bill Clinton were both liars and cheats. Just think how bad it would have been with McClain and Sarah "One skin lesion from the Oval Office" Palin in charge. Still love seeing how long it will take O'bama to distance himself from his rat pack.

Rev. Wright: I meant 'Zionists'

Rev. Jeremiah Wright on Thursday tried to step back from a controversial comment he made earlier in the week, explaining that when he said “them Jews” were keeping him from getting access to President Barack Obama he meant to say “Zionists.”

“I misspoke. Let me just say Zionists.” Wright told Sirius/XM radio host Mark Thompson on “Make it Plain.”

Wright tried to explain that the comment was a reference to Jewish authors and “historical facts.”

“I’m not talking about all Jews, all people of the Jewish faith, I’m talking about Zionists,” he said. “I’m talking about facts, historical facts. I’m not talking about emotionally charged words.”

“They can jump on that phrase if they want to, but they can’t undo history and they can’t undo the fact of Jewish historians and Jewish theologians who write about what’s going on,” he added.

During an interview with the Daily Press posted on the newspaper’s site Wednesday, Wright claimed that he is being blocked from speaking with Obama, a former member of Wright’s congregation.

“Them Jews ain't going to let him talk to me,” Wright told the paper. “I told my baby daughter that he'll talk to me in five years when he's a lame duck, or in eight years when he's out of office.”

“They will not let him to talk to somebody who calls a spade what it is,” he added. “I said from the beginning. He’s a politician, I’m a pastor. He’s got to do what politicians do.”
Mist of what Wright says is true.

There is proof in the Scriptures that there are some who claim to be of our brother, Judah, but do lie. (Revelation 2:9 and 3:9). The Jews are of the tribe of Judah, and some liars just slipped into the pack throughout history. However, Rev. Wright needs to use Biblically based tactics to establish who they are, what their agenda is, and how to combat their evil purposes. I personally don't believe he is capable of coming to an honest conclusion based solely on the Word of God. There is too much hatred in the man for him to allow the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and that is what it would take. In addition, we are told to leave the tares alone because some of the wheat could be hurt. This man is a minister of hatred, not God's Word, IMO, and that is an educated opinion. He proves this with his distorted, public statements.
