Thank you for the info. I crossed over the bridge and saw that the water was high. That was Thursday.
But please I know that The Little Calumet River goes through areas where the houses are worth money, and the people have money.
But keep in mind that there is THE GRAND CALUMET RIVER. It goes through areas where people live and schools are present. Granted the houses aren't worth a lot and the people are poorer. But The Grand
Calumet is VERY TOXIC!!
So could you please let people know when it is the
Little or Grand Calumet River.
Thank you.
After the flooding in Munster in the fall, our church was one of the churches that stepped and helped the flooding victims. My wife and I spent several days doing clean-up work in Munster as volunteers. The homeowners who were flooded were not people with money, as you say. They were average Americans who got up and went to work everyday so that they could live in a safe community with good schools. Several of the homes belonged to senior citizens living on fixed incomes. We also helped with several homes where the owners had no flood insurance at all and would have been homeless if it weren't for the kindness and generosity of the local churches. Having your home flood and losing all your possessions is a traumatic event, whether you are middle class or poor.
