Highland student has confirmed case of swine fluA student at Warren Elementary School in Highland has a confirmed case of the swine flu, Superintendent Michael Boskovich said Wednesday night.
Superintendent Michael Boskovich used the "Alert Now" emergency messaging system, which placed phone calls to Highland parents with a recorded message Wednesday night.
Boskovich said that at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Lake County Health Department notified the school district that a Warren Elementary student tested positive for the swine flu virus.
"The student and the student’s family were all administered the Tamiflu vaccine by appropriate medical personnel and are now symptom free. As a result, the student has returned to school," Boskovich said. "The student’s physician has followed all recommendations and requirements as prescribed by the Centers for Disease Control."
Boskovich said the school building was sanitized Wednesday night with Envirox H2Orange2 Concentrate 117.
"Please be reminded that if your child is exhibiting any flu like symptoms, including coughing or sneezing, that they should be kept home from school until they are symptom free," he said, reminding parents of the preventative measures that can aid in stopping the spread of the virus, such as frequent hand washing or coughing into your elbow.
