A woman punched a 70-year-old Walmart greeter in the face after she asked to see a receipt for merchandise the woman was carrying out of the store.

Jacquetta Simmons, 26, was charged with two counts of assault for the attack that knocked 70-year-old Grace Suozzi to the ground causing the elderly woman to fracture the side of her face.

Simmons and her male companion ran out of the store in Batavia, New York after the confrontation at 11:30am on Christmas Eve.

Three Chicago men connected to several home invasions and attacks against elderly Northwest Indiana residents are in custody, Merrillville police said.

Sandy Ely, 40; Tony Ely, 23; and Anthony Miller, 39, were arrested recently, but the time and location of the arrests weren't immediately available Friday, Merrillville Police Chief Joseph Petruch said. Merrillville officers did not make the arrests, he said.

The men are accused of forcing their way into elderly residents' homes between early August and late November and robbing them. The incidents occurred in East Chicago, Hobart, Highland, Merrillville, Munster and Whiting. Victims of the crimes range in age from 79 to 95.
