Police had no suspects or a motive in the shooting. Williams enlisted in the Army in February 2008 and was deployed in April to Afghanistan, where he performed maintenance on planes, an Army spokesman told the Associated Press. He had taken 15 days of leave to go home for the holidays.

"It's a very, very sad case," said Lt. Col. Nathan M. Banks, an Army spokesman. "We always expect to be killed over there. When we come home to American soil, this is rare."

Williams was shot in the upper body and continued driving until he stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road, not far from his home. Police located the vehicle in the 600 block of S. Wickham St., in the Southwest Baltimore neighborhood of Beechfield.

He was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. Monday. His wife, who was unharmed, was cooperating with investigators, Guglielmi said.

It was not clear what, if anything, provoked the shooting, and police were working to determine the precise location of the crime scene, made difficult by the heavy snow accumulation.

Williams was to have turned 23 years old on Dec. 26, and his deployment would have ended in April.

If there ever was a time to invoke the death penalty this is one of them...AND SWIFTLY...and I don't give a damn if this stops the next wacko or not but it WOULD HAVE stopped this one had he been properly sentenced and punished the first time he did this.

However,.... the governor of BIG BLUE STATE Maryland wants to abolish the death penalty (look at the voting constituents of this state)...

but GUESS WHAT?... aborting innocent babies is ok with him. ..

Knowing THAT,...and the way dumbocrats,... LOVE to coddle criminals (they can vote)...does anyone HONESTLY believe Sarah will find any real justice here?

And ONE MORE THING!...once obamas health care nightmare drains money from so many other entities of state government, you WILL undoubtedly start seeing budgets for prisons cut...and I MEAN BIG TIME.... which translates into shorter sentences for animals like this one!

How DEMOCRATS can sleep at night is anyones guess....

I don't need pity from you sparks...the family of Salvation Army Major who was gunned down by black thugs in front of his kids on Christmas Eve do...

it's kinda why I posted it... I was hoping that people who saw this thought of this family and might want to help....we see every day what the Salvation Army does for others, I saw it first hand during my stint in the military.....

Helping your fellow man...especially this one right?....one who made his life of helping people only to be murdered in cold blood by those he devoted his time to.
