On page 4 of today's Post-Tribune, there is a story about yesterday's "Tea Party" rally in Crown Point. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the picture of Mary Ellen Slazyk holding a sign that says "FIX 2010,REPEAT 1776 ! It is quite an unflatterring photo, even for Mary Ellen. She has a snarl that matches the pit bulls she owns. I guess when she was making her sign, she forget about the fact that the government she is protesting pays her monthly for being disabled. If her dream came true, the checks would stop and she'd have to work like the rest of us. Here's the story from the Post. Check out the "comments". http://www.post-trib.com/news/lake/2164964,new-lcteaparty0416.article

What's really humorous is that the Tea Party whackos were worried about "liberals" staging a counterprotest and discrediting them. All it took to discredit these nutjobs was a photographer from the Post snapping a picture of one of the unemployed "teabaggers" who uses her government check to buy gas so she can "protest" and call for the overthrow of our government. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic

Your attacks on me show what a pathetic person YOU are.
I have just as much of a right to free speech as anyone, and that includes a right to protest. BTW, I was in Crown Point on business. The protest was just the "icing on the cake".

FTR, you sure have your hands out for the FREE College Bound money.
I PAID into Social Security.

Just like the teabaggers that take their social security and Medicare from the government. I guess as long as they receive payments from the government it is not socialized at all! I sure haven't read or heard any of them calling for the repeal of those two government payments.

...and how much did you pay in versus what you have collected? I have paid thousands into Social Security and will never collect one penny of it. So I guess I have the right to protest you since you are taking MY money that I have paid into this government program and will never receive any benefit!

People PAY into Social Security. In most cases, it is taken out of your paychecks, whether you want to pay into it or not.
It is NOT a government handout. You pay in, and when eligible, you collect.
Medicare is NOT free. People on Medicare pay a premium every month. The basic coverage is not real good, so many people supplement it with a private plan.

Why won't you collect? There are only a handfull of circumstances where you are ineligible to collect.
I started working part time at 14, full time at 17. I have no idea how many thousands I paid in.

Why don't you add to your list, widows of workers, children of deceased or disabled workers, etc. They NEVER paid into the system, so I guess your major gripe should really be with them.
