While this is good for traffic concerns it looks like communities north of the new section will be losing some business revenue from gas stations to fast food. Won't help south county so much either since the route shortens the time on Indiana roads. No wonder IL was so overly eager! A nice fat bunch of contracts to award and a lot more comfort businesses to draw revenue from. I bet Rudy Clay is mad. Now more people will actually have to have a good reason to drive through to Gary. Well maybe there will be a demand to see Michael Jackson's boyhood home.

I wonder what this change will do to Cabela's Hammond or Bass Pro Portage? Not to mention the county casinos. You can quibble over how minimal is minimal impact I guess. Still, to a small business owner $20 a day, every day can sometimes be the difference between success & failure.
