Methinks that isn't by your own choosing.

Go figure.

Drunken driving initiative to start

Post-Tribune staff report Feb 28, 2011 08:56AM

Indiana State Police will start a two-week crackdown Friday on drunk drivers, according to a release.

Along with looking out for people driving while intoxicated, police working overtime will focus on aggressive drivers and people not wearing a seat belt, the release said.

The push, which will last until March 20 and covers St. Patrick’s Day, is meant to help bring down alcohol-related deaths. The release said 41 people died in the state in March 2009, and a driver who was operating while intoxicated was involved in 24 percent of those crashes.

“Impaired driving is a drive - one too deadly to ignore,” Lt. Lou Brown, commander of the state police Lowell District, said in the release. “That’s why we don’t give warnings or accept excuses. If you’re over the limit in our 11-county coverage, you will be arrested.”

St. Patrick's Day sobriety checkpoint planned for Lake Co.

The Lowell District of the Indiana State Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Thursday night in Lake County.

Drivers encountering a checkpoint will be required to produce a valid license and registration. Police said motorists that are not impaired can expect delays of two to three minutes. If all information is correct and there is no other reason to be detained, drivers will be released.

After the checkpoint is complete, troopers will conduct roving saturation patrols seeking impaired drivers throughout the district.

If you didn't have a drinking problem, police checkpoints wouldn't bother you.

Thank your lucky stars you don't, you certainly don't need to enhance your already massive stupidity.

Lake Co. sobriety checkpoint planned

The Lowell District of the Indiana State Police is planning a sobriety checkpoint Saturday night in Lake County, officials announced Wednesday.

Drivers encountering a checkpoint will be required to produce a valid driver's license and registration. Motorists that are not impaired can expect delays of two to three minutes, police said. If all information is correct and there is no other reason to be detained, they will be released.

After the checkpoint, troopers will be conducting roving saturation patrols seeking impaired drivers throughout the Lowell district.

Troopers are asking all motorists to call 911 or the nearest Indiana State Police post if they observe another motorist who may be impaired. Callers should be prepared to give a description of the vehicle, location and direction of travel, police said.

I am sure you do "take it".

But I have never had one.

Indiana police plan crackdown on drunken driving

February 27, 2012 9:58AM

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Police throughout Indiana are gearing up for a crackdown on drunken driving.

More than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies are expected to take part in the effort that is scheduled to begin Friday and run through March 18. Police departments plan to conduct high-visibility enforcement activities designed specifically to identify impaired drivers. State police say the stepped up patrols could include saturation patrols and sobriety check points.

Motorists also will see an increased number of patrols looking for aggressive drivers and unrestrained motorists during the 17-day mobilization.

Operation Pull Over Blitz 70 is a statewide enforcement effort supported by federal funding.
