MORGAN TOWNSHIP | Porter County police are investigating the recent death and mutilation of cattle and a lamb belonging to a farmer in the area of 600 East County Road 100 South.

The farmer first contacted police Oct. 14 after discovering a bull that had died unexpectedly was missing an ear, testicles and penis.

He said the bull had been lethargic and laying around the field for two days prior to its death.

The farmer then dug up one of his son's lambs that had died during the same period and found it also was missing its testicles and penis, police said.

The farmer did not want to file a report initially, but contacted police again after discovering the same type of mutilation and lethargic response involving two other dead bulls and three steers.

He noticed the steers were bloated either right before they died or soon afterward. The farmer said a veterinarian told him it is possible someone injected the animals with insulin to put them into shock so they would be immobilized, police said.

When asked by police if he had any suspects in mind, the farmer gave police the name of someone who became overly interested when the bulls and lamb were found.

The farmer said his financial loss is about $5,000.

Wow. This is very creepy. It sound like the work of a future serial killer or cult.
