Experts say it's just a matter of time before states start demanding more taxes to make up for huge state budget shortfalls created by the nationwide economic slump. Even if you live in a state with generally low taxes, such as Alaska or Tennessee, expect legislators to begin burning the midnight oil to figure out ways to balance their budgets. Unlike the federal government, all state governments (except Vermont) are legally bound to balance their budgets without the luxury of simply borrowing more money. They've got to reduce services or increase revenue, or both. And that's just it! If we don't demand an accountability right now and eliminate the unnecessary progressive socialism from the budgets the state legislatures will pull a fast one just like the US Congress is doing. |

I've been wondering, if the cities and towns can't afford to say, fix roads, infrastructure etc. What exactly are the people whos job this is doing? We can't afford to fix this problems, but we can afford to pay these peoples salaries, pensions and healthcare that do these jobs. And then when budget shortfalls come, the police and firefighters and E.M.T's who really do work are laid off? Makes a whole lotta sense to me. NOT!!!! |
