I was a SUPER Kingman fan! You never hear anything about him these days.
Columnist Mike Royko hated Kingman. He mentioned me by name in one of his columns making fun of rabid Cubs fans . He said I had "fungus on the brain" for sticking up for Kingman in a letter I wrote to him. You brought back some great memories for me. Thanks. :)

I was a Dave Kingman fan, when he was on the White Sox. He used to hit the occasional roof top home run.

He was a long baller for sure, but he didn't play for the White Sox. Locally, he played for the Cubs.

Amos 'n' Andy on the Air:

The Chicago Years

Curator's note: Few "Amos 'n' Andy" espisodes have survived from the years Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll worked in Chicago. The 1929 episodes below are from the period Gosden and Correll syndicated the broadcast. They are dubbed from 12" the 78rpm disks that the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company recorded, pressed and distributed to subscribing stations. The 1933 fragment is an air-check. By this time NBC carried "Amos 'n' Andy". The broadcast originated in studio F, with Glen Webster most likely at the controls. (Visit the website of Elizabeth McLeod for much, much more on "Amos 'n' Andy"). You will need RealPlayer to listen to these clips.

There surely are some classics. LOL! 8) Guess what Geronimo? My dad has some old vintage Amos and Andy on VCR! The quality is a little rough but that's the way it was. Here's a classic! :D :smt006
