What do you think of the "social networking" sites?

For an old fart like me, it is hard to accept that anyone cares what anyone else is doing at that exact moment, no matter how mundane.

But the sites are very nice for allowing long lost buddies to find you. I recently heard from an old high school flame and the timing couldn't have been better.

But there are also nutjobs out there. Some folks who loved to harass me on the message boards recently discovered Facebook too, and tried to suck me in to their sticky web.

Do you use these sites? Has it been a bad or good experience?

I have a facebook page and rarely go to it. I get these things about someone sent you a fish for your cove. What the hell that is I have no clue. LOL I don't completely understand it and what the big deal is about. Usually the only time I go to it is when someone wants to be my friend or have sent me a message otherwise big whup!!

I think that means we are both hopelessly antiquated.

I know what facebook and myspace is, but with my dial-up I can't go to the sites, it's too slow. As for twitter, I have no idea what that is. I am in the Stone Age. :(

I have a FACEBOOK page, and another "By Invitation Only" page. I don't spend a lot of time on either, but it is fun to hook up with people you haven't seen or heard from in a long time. I usually check them once a day, and that's about it.

I have a facebook page and all the people with the last name Sconiers who have roots in Sconersville connect on facebook with the tweet deck it make twitter much more fun because you update facebook every time you post and you view what is being said by your friends on twitter get the tweet deck .

http://tweetdeck.com/beta/

TweetDeck is your personal browser for staying in touch with what’s happening now, connecting you with your contacts across Twitter, Facebook and more.

TweetDeck shows you everything you want to see at once, so you can stay organised and up to date.

It's becoming an excellent marketing tool for businesses to have. It's nice to get a tweet about a local business having a sale, or maybe it's a Saturday afternoon and you're thinking about what you'd like to have for dinner. Then suddenly your phone gets a tweet about a dinner special somewhere.
