U.S. fast food caught in immigration crosshairs Quote: And then it has something not going its way -- a federal crackdown on its immigrant labor force that has so far forced Chipotle to fire hundreds of allegedly illegal workers in the state of Minnesota, perhaps more than half its staff there. Quote: Under Obama, immigration enforcement agents are cracking down on employers with so-called "I-9 audits" -- I-9 being the employment eligibility verification form. ICE says that means companies' hiring practices could be subjected to the same degree of scrutiny as their bookkeeping is by the Internal Revenue Service. That is how to control it...get the businesses that knowingly hire illegals... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20110207/us_nm/us_usa_immigration_fastfood |

Nice edit. The title of the article is: Arrests of illegal migrants on U.S.-Mexico border plummet And why is that? But coupled with census and labor data from both countries that show far fewer Mexicans coming to the United States and many returning home, it appears that the historic flood of Mexican migration north has slowed dramatically. “We have reached the point where the balance between Mexicans moving to the United States and those returning to Mexico is essentially zero,†said Jeffrey Passel, a senior demographer at the Pew Hispanic Center, whose conclusion was shared by many migration experts.... ....The lower number of apprehensions supports the Obama administration’s contention that the border is more secure than ever — that the doubling of Border Patrol agents since 2004, along with hundreds of miles of new fence, cameras, lights, sensors and Predator drones, has helped slow the illegal flow northward. Nice try Arc, LOL. You might want to read the article first next time you try to denigrate the president, fool. |

Far Fewer Enter U.S. Illegally From Mexico Quote: Arrests of people trying to sneak into the U.S. from Mexico have plunged to the lowest level in four decades, the latest sign that illegal immigration is on the retreat. Quote: Government crackdowns on U.S. employers who hire illegal workers also have discouraged immigrants. Quote: Stepped-up U.S. patrols along the border make it both riskier and more expensive for Mexicans to attempt to enter the country. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/far-fewer-enter-u-s--illegally-from-mexico.html |

Friday Afternoon News Dump: Obama Quietly Grants Amnesty To More Than 100K Illegal Immigrants Now pass the EBT cards, food stamps and Obama phones! Quote: The administration has issued stays of deportation for 102,965 illegal immigrants under President Obama’s new non-deportation policy, officials announced Friday.
Another 157,151 applications are still under review under the policy, officially known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which grants a tentative legal status to illegal immigrants who qualify — though it does not grant them a path to citizenship. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Homeland Security branch that administers the program, said 12,014 applications were rejected off the bat, while as many as 177,000 more applications are having their biometric data taken before entering the final review. Mr. Obama announced the policy in June, saying he would no longer deport illegal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children as long as they haven’t committed any major crimes. Mexicans make up the vast majority of applications, topping 70 percent of those submitted. Next highest is El Salvador with less than 5 percent. South Korea has the largest contingent from outside Latin America at less than 2 percent. |
