thanks for the eductation :smt005 :smt006

Scary.
It's people like chuckmo who are teaching the current crop of children.
And the teachers' unions wouldn't have it any other way. After all, why demand competence when the incompetent are already eligible for tenure?

Excerpts from Ronnie Raygun's indoctrination to our youth: (circa 1988)
Quote:
And I think that what we're going to have to have -- and what I want to strive for -- is an
amendment to our Constitution that requires the Government every year to balance the
budget. And in doing that -- also a tool for the President, and it's called line-item veto.

Quote:
Because, you see, the taxes can be such a penalty on people that there's no incentive for
them to prosper and earn more and so forth because they have to give so much to the
Government. And what we have found is that at the lower rates the Government gets
more revenue. There are more people paying taxes because there are more people with
jobs. And there are more people willing to earn more money because they get to keep a
bigger share of it.

Quote:
Gun ban? Well, I think there has to be some control. But I thought that in
California we had a system that probably was the best. I have never felt that we should,
for the law-abiding citizens, take the gun away from them and make it impossible to have
one.

Doesn't sound political at all...right? (But that was ok because you agree with it...right)?

No, it doesn't sound political at all - it sounds like the epitome of common sense.
Why do you ask?

That was a very good post, Chuck. Thank you.
This whole debate is driving me nuts.
There is nothing wrong with the nation's first black president telling kids to work hard in school and succeed. He's a wonderful role model for kids who don't have good role models in their lives.
The speech was non-political.
I wish his political opponents would stop painting him as the devil incarnate. I'm afraid someone's going to try to harm him if this anti-Obama frenzy continues.

Were you concerned when Bush was pictured with a gun to his temple or pictured with a Hitler moustache, hung in effigy, or had movies made and books written about his assassinatiom?
Just axin'.

Anyone else here who believes that was the original speech he intended to give to the kindergartners please send me a PM...I have a bridge for sale you may be interested in...

the final draft he read used the term ''I'' 56 times...

of course some of the clueless will still claim to be ''informed'' simply because they heard it....

baffling to say the least.

Because here are some quotes from the president's speech yesterday:
Quote:
So I know some of you are still adjusting to being back at school. But I'm here today because I have something important to discuss with you. I'm here because I want to talk with you about your education and what's expected of all of you in this new school year.

Quote:
But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the world - and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you show up to those schools; pay attention to those teachers; listen to your parents, grandparents and other adults; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.
And that's what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your education. I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.

No indoctrination about taxes or gun control, just asking students to reponsible for their actions. I guess you neos don't like that.

He changed his speech and dropped the "lesson plans" because of the uproar from the public.

:sign3:

How silly.....President Reagan was answering specific questions that the kids had axed.

That's how those subjects came up. It was a question and answer at a school.

It wasn't an indoctrination attempt.
Not to mention, the stuff the "Dept. of Eduction" came up with in order to glorify the Messiah.

Didn't work out so well and the Chimp-in-CHief had to alter his speech.

Crack me up...... :smt006

How do you know when you have defeated a racist liberal....?

No it was the uproar of the neos: (Which is not the public, but the fringe)
Quote:
Yet several conservative organizations and many concerned parents warned Obama was trying to sell his political agenda.

Concern was caused in part by an accompanying administration lesson plan encouraging students to "help the president," which the White House later revised.

The original speech suggested that students could help the president by writing letters.

Ronald Reagan got away with saying students could write letters to the president in his speech to students when he was president but not so for Obama.

On the contrary...if the only thing I saw was the nation's first black president telling kids to work hard in school and succeed.. I would congratulate him!!!![/i]
