An Obama Revelation: Supporters
Marking Their Right Hands

The Obama campaign recently asked its followers to write messages on their right hands and, with their hands pressed over their hearts, pledge their allegiance to Obama by posting these pictures on Twitter or Facebook. A number of celebrities such as Natalia Portman, Scarlett Johansson, and Jessica Alba complied.

Of course, for those who are not part of the Obama cult, such actions, as well as the very request, are creepy. The act seems more an expression of quasi-religious adoration of and not just political support for Obama.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) blasted Republicans on Friday afternoon for continuing to assert that Americans are not better off under President Obama’s administration, and said every economic indicator shows that the country is in a much better spot today than it was four years ago.

“The Republicans have the nerve to pose that question, when if you look back to four years ago this very week … you would know that we are indeed fundamentally and unquestionably better off as a country today,” Pelosi said on the House floor.

Pelosi recounted how she, as House Speaker four years ago this week, held an emergency meeting on a Thursday with then-Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson and Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke to address the fiscal crisis. Pelosi recalled Paulson said the financial system was in “imminent danger,” and said Bernanke warned her that without congressional action, “we won’t have an economy by Monday.”

NEW YORK, Sept 24 (Reuters) – President Barack Obama on Monday sought to woo women voters at a taping of the daytime talk show “The View,” by flirting with his wife and bearing gifts for the hosts, but he could not escape tough questions on the economy that have dominated the election.

When host and veteran journalist Barbara Walters kidded Michelle Obama about bringing the president as her “date,” Obama quipped, “I’ve been told I’m just eye candy here.”

The appearance, which will air on Tuesday on the ABC television network, marks the first time the Obamas have appeared together on the one-hour show, which features four female hosts, including Hollywood icon Whoopi Goldberg, and is popular with middle-income women voters.

The taping in New York was squeezed in before Obama’s obligations at the United Nations General Assembly’s annual meeting, where he is delivering a Tuesday morning speech.
