Roving security teams increasingly visit train stations, subways and other mass transit sites to deter terrorism. Critics say it's largely political theater.

According to budget documents, the department spent $110 million in fiscal 2011 for "surface transportation security," including the TSA's viper program, and is asking for an additional $24 million next year. That compares with more than $5 billion for aviation security.

The TSA is also doing random vehicle searches on the interstate in Tennessee.

You watch & see. Remember how we had to get a REAL ID to even enter government buildings or ride a bus at some point? I'm sure TSA would be expanded to provide security for them too. All depends on who wins as President. Even one or two Republican candidates "may" fall into that trap. Might explain part of Ron Paul's support because people are fed up with gobernment intruding into liberty and they just don't trust Newt to be on the same team on that topic.

TSA Worker Caught Downloading Child Pornography

Yet another TSA screener has been exposed as a pervert after police raided the Maryland home of 41-year-old TSA screener Scott Wilson and discovered videos and photos of child pornography contained on over two dozen different storage devices.

â€œA â€œforensic previewâ€ of Wilsonâ€™s two computers (as well as various storage devices found in a locked safe) revealed a variety of videos and photos â€œdepicting prepubescent females engaged in sexually explicit conduct with adults,â€ reports The Smoking Gun.

Wilson, who was responsible for screening cargo on commercial flights, has been freed on $250,000 bail after DHS officials found obscene images and videos on 31 separate storage devices. It is not known whether his TSA role included conducting pat downs of children, which the TSA asserts it has discontinued for under-12â€²s yet are still occurring on a regular basis.

What are you basing that assumption on?

He was responsible for screening cargo and children count as passengers, so I doubt there was much overlap. Do you ship your children as cargo when you fly? I have sat in front of kids that I wished were in the cargo hold during a long flight.
