BRIDGETOWN — UN rights chief Navi Pillay on Thursday called for an "immediate investigation" into the circumstances surrounding the February death of an unarmed black US teen, shot by a neighborhood watchman.
Pillay made the comments about the controversial Trayvon Martin case at a press conference in Barbados, as she wrapped up a three-day visit to the Caribbean island nation.
"As High Commissioner for Human Rights, I call for an immediate investigation," Pillay told reporters.
"Justice must be done for the victim. It's not just this individual case. It calls into question the delivery of justice in all situations like this."

I guess ringmasters DUMBO and Sharpton aren't the only ones trying to exploit this tragedy...

One of the horrifying sideshows of the Trayvon Martin carnival is how NBC News edited audio of George Zimmerman's 911 call to create the false impression that Zimmerman had said, "This guy looks like he’s up to no good ... he looks black."

As Dan Riehl at Breitbart.com's Big Journalism reported last month, NBC edited out a key part of that call. Zimmerman said that Martin appeared to be "on drugs or something. It's raining and he's just walking around, looking about." The 911 dispatcher then asked, "Okay, is this guy, is he white, black, or Hispanic?" Zimmerman was merely answering the dispatcher's question.

Not only did NBC edit the audio, but also edited Zimmerman's quotes as published on its Internet site, helping to foster the false belief that Zimmerman had singled out Martin because of his race. Yesterday, NBC News fired a producer/reporter at its Miami affiliate -- the second such reported firing in connection with the deceptive edit -- and the Miami Herald quoted an unnamed official at the Miami station:

“The network is very sensitive about the whole Al Sharpton/MSNBC issue, so when the right-wing bloggers started hammering, they needed to throw them fresh meat,” said the station source, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the controversy. “It’s not at all clear how this happened. Obviously, there was miscommunication.”

This would seem to suggest that NBC News is sacrificing low-level personnel -- throwing "fresh meat" to "right-wing bloggers" --

Americans Media Would Sit it Out'

"It is inconceivable that had a white mob set upon two black Americans the media would sit it out." So said Fox News's Bill O'Reilly Monday about the media's almost total silence about a white couple that was attacked by a crowd of young African-Americans three weeks ago in Norfolk, Virginia (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

As the program began, O’Reilly said, “Shortly after 11PM on April 14, 26-year-old Marjon Rostami and 31-year-old David Forster were coming home from the theater when someone threw a rock at their vehicle.”

The pair worked for the local paper the Virginian-Pilot.

Forster got out to confront the rock-thrower only to be set upon by approximately five African-Americans who beat him.

Rostami got out of the car to help her boyfriend leading her to be attacked as the car was surrounded by a crowd of about 30 people.

She ended up calling 911, and the police filed a report describing the assault as a suspected hate/bias crime arresting a sixteen-year-old. That has since been changed; police are no longer claiming it was a hate/bias crime.

However, Fox News’s Jesse Waters interviewed a witness to the event who verified Rostami and Forster's account claiming that he felt this was a racial episode tied to the Trayvon Martin incident in Florida.

A medical report compiled by the family physician of accused Trayvon Martin murderer George Zimmerman and obtained exclusively by ABC News found that Zimmerman was diagnosed with a “closed fracture” of his nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and a minor back injury the day after he fatally shot Martin during an alleged altercation.

Zimmerman faces a second degree murder charge for the Feb. 26 shooting that left the unarmed 17-year-old high school junior dead. Zimmerman has claimed self defense in what he described as a life and death struggle that Martin initiated by accosting him, punching him in the face, then repeatedly bashing his head into the pavement. . . .

The morning after the shooting, on Feb. 27, Zimmerman sought treatment at the offices of a general physician at a family practice near Sanford, Fla. The doctor notes Zimmerman sought an appointment to get legal clearance to return to work.

The record shows that Zimmerman also suffered bruising in the upper lip and cheek and lower back pain. The two lacerations on the back of his head, one of them nearly an inch long, the other about a quarter-inch long, were first revealed in photos obtained exclusively by ABC News last month. . . .

In addition to his physical injuries, Zimmerman complained of stress and “occasional nausea when thinking about the violence.” But he was not diagnosed with a concussion. The doctor noted that it was “imperative” that Zimmerman “be seen with [sic] his psychologist for evaluation.”. . .

A neighbor told ABC News that the day after the shooting he saw Zimmerman as he spoke to officers outside his home. He too recalled seeing black eyes and significant swelling — as well as a bandage over his nose.

Moments after the shooting Zimmerman told eyewitnesses he shot Martin in self defense. He later told officers his head was being pounded into the pavement and that he feared for his life, but that it was only when Martin seemed to reach for the gun wedges in his waistband that Zimmerman drew his weapon and fired directly into Martin’s chest — killing him.

The medical notes may bolster Zimmerman’s claim that he acted in self-defense because he was being attacked. However, the prosecution contends that Zimmerman instigated the confrontation after profiling the teen, who was walking home after buying skittles and ice tea. They prosecution says Martin was breaking no laws and was not disturbing anyone as he walked back to his father’s girlfriend’s home.

No, they aren't. A bag of Skittles and a can of tea were what seventeen tear old Trayvon Martin bought from 7-11 just before George Zimmerman stalked and shot him.
