New Black Panther Party chief of
staff Michelle Williams apologizes after
George Zimmerman radio outburst

WTSP.com, by Melanie Michael

It was an emotional interview for Michelle Williams. As a community activist and chief of staff for the New Black Panther Party, Michelle is used to addressing many issues. But when it comes to her passion in the Trayvon Martin case, she gets especially upset and tearful.

BREAK

Her words were not taken lightly and were replayed Tuesday morning by nationally syndicated radio talk show host Bubba the Love Sponge.

Michelle said during that interview,
"Let me tell you, the things that's about to happen, to these honkeys, these crackers, these pigs, these pink people, these ---- people. It has been long overdue. My prize right now this evening ... is gonna be the bounty, the arrest, dead or alive, for George Zimmerman. You feel me?"

Lawrence O'Donnell apologizes
for offending 'a great many Mormons'

Deseret News [UT], by Joseph Walker

MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell apologized Wednesday night for "two sentences" that "offended a great many Mormons."

O'Donnell was apologizing for comments he made April 3 in responding to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's statement that President Barack Obama is trying to "establish a religion in America known as secularism."

O'Donnell's point was that as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "Mitt Romney lives in the glass house of American politics."

O'Donnell went on to say that "Mormonism was created by a guy in upstate New York in 1830 when he got caught having sex with the maid and explained to his wife that God told him to do it. Forty-eight wives later, Joseph Smith's lifestyle was completely sanctified in the religion he invented to go with it, which Mitt Romney says he believes."

Democratic strategist Rosen
apologizes for attack on Ann Romney

Fox News

Democratic strategist and CNN contributor Hilary Rosen apologized Thursday to Ann Romney, wife of presumptive GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, for criticizing her choice to be a stay-at-home mother.

"I apologize to Ann Romney and anyone else who was offended," Rosen said in statement.

Rosen sparked a firestorm of criticism by suggesting Wednesday evening on CNN that Romney was not qualified to help her husband on the campaign trail address women's issues.

“Guess what, (Romney’s) wife has actually never worked a day in her life," said Rosen, who has twins with ex-partner Elizabeth Birch.

In her apology, Rosen also said: “Let’s put the faux ‘war against stay at home moms’ to rest once and for all. As a mom I know that raising children is the hardest job there is. As a pundit, I know my words on CNN last night were poorly chosen."

Minutes earlier, the White House on Thursday ducked a head-on rebuke of Rosen.

NBC News Admits ‘Error’ In
Editing George Zimmerman’s
911 Call, Apologizes

Mediaite, by Meenal Vamburkar

NBC News has completed the internal investigation into the edited tape of George Zimmerman’s 911 call, which was aired on Today. The network admitted an “error” and apologized to viewers.

RELATED: NBC Launches Internal Investigation Of Misleadingly Edited Zimmerman 911 Call

The edited call was aired on Today, but was aired repeatedly — including during MSNBC segments about the Trayvon Martin case. NBC’s audio made it seem as though Zimmerman voluntarily offered that Martin looked suspicious because he was black. The unedited audio, The Hollywood Reporter notes, “reveals that Zimmerman didn’t mention Martin’s race until the 911 operator asked him, ‘Is he white, black or Hispanic?’”

Spike Lee apologizes for retweeting
wrong Zimmerman addres
s
CNN

(CNN) -- Director Spike Lee issued an apology Wednesday night to a Florida couple who had to leave their home after he retweeted a message that erroneously listed their address as belonging to George Zimmerman.

"I Deeply Apologize To The McClain Family For Retweeting Their Address," Lee tweeted. "It Was A Mistake. Please Leave The McClain's In Peace. Justice In Court"

Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer who claimed he killed teenager Trayvon Martin in self-defense last month, lives more than 4 miles from David and Elaine McClain. He is reported to be in hiding.

The McClains moved into a hotel room after the retweets.

Hanks apologizes to Fox’s O’Reilly
for smear during racist skit

Daily Caller, by Neil Munro

Amid controversy over his unplanned participation in a 2004 blackface skit, noted actor Tom Hanks apologized Tuesday night for joking that the shocking scene was caused by Bill O’Reilly, the Fox News Channel’s top-ranked host.

“I used Bill O’Reilly as the punch line of an uncomfortable joke that was hardly funny and [was] unfair,” Hanks emailed The Daily Caller.

“I have no reason to think Mr. O’Reilly would have found both the reason for the joke nor my use of it funny in any way,” said Hanks, whose blackface skit surfaced in a video posted by TheDC on Monday.

Hanks’ 2004 jibe came as he saw the final donor at a school auction fundraiser approach him dressed in blackface, an Afro wig and a leopard-print toga.

“Oh jeez … Ladies and gentlemen, a celebrity in our midst!” Hanks exclaimed. “Who would have thought that Bill O’Reilly would join us?”

Keith Olbermann Apologizes
To SE Cupp And Michelle Malkin,
Suspends Worst Persons Again

Mediaite, by Tommy Christopher

On Wednesday night’s Countdown, host Keith Olbermann took on comparisons of his own cruel remarks about some conservative women with Rush Limbaugh‘s sustained attack on Sandra Fluke, which has prompted an unprecedented advertiser exodus from the conservative radio giant. While Olbermann argued that his offenses were vastly different in character (and not misogynist), he did apologize to conservative pundits S.E. Cupp and Michelle Malkin, and announced the (re)suspension of his “Worst Persons” segment.

Olbermann began by…attacking a woman, saying that one of the “desperate false equivalencies” to the Limbaugh controversy has been leveled at him by “one of the house tamed liberals at Fox News, a supposed Democratic strategist who hasn’t been able to get a job as a Democrat since 2004.” (Powers actually did work on a Democratic campaign in 2005, and has been working as a writer and commentator since)

Maine Democrat: Cheney should die like Saddam
Washington Examiner, by Joel Gehrke

Democratic Rep. Chuck Kruger, a state legislator in Maine's "moderate caucus," called for former Vice President Dick Cheney to die like Saddam Hussein, and
now regrets his "lousy attempt at humor."

"Cheney deserves same final end he gave Saddam," Kruger tweeted, according to the Maine Wire. "Hope there are cell cams," he added, indicating a desire to watch Cheney die.

NYTimes Food Reporter Rejoices at
Chick-Fil-A VP's Heart Attack, Apologizes

Breitbart's Big Journalism, by Warner Todd Huston

Mark Bittman, a New York Times food critic, admits he used an "inappropriate phrase" in an August 3 blog posting about Chick-Fil-A. In fact, it was down right Bitter, man, because he seemed to be rejoicing that a vice president of the fast food company had died of a heart attack back in July.

Bittman apologized to his readers for the giddiness he displayed about the death of Chick-Fil-A's Vice President of Public Relations, Don Perry, who passed away on July 27.

Said the bitter foodie,

In a recent blog post, I used an inappropriate phrase to refer to the late VP of PR for Chick-fil-A. My choice of words did not rise to either my own standards or to The Times’s, and the phrase has been removed from the post. I regret this lapse.

What he said on August 3 deserved to be excised, too. It was pretty vile. Here is what was removed from the post:

Speaking of pigs, the VP of PR for Chick-fil-A dropped dead of a heart attack the week after the chain's latest homophobia/anti-gay marriage scandal. Here's an obit, and here's more about him. Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A had record-breaking profits after its President, Dan Cathy, drew a line in the sand over same-sex marriage.

Preckwinkle regrets saying Reagan deserves 'special place in hell'
Chicago Tribune

— Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle on Tuesday said former President Ronald Reagan deserves "a special place in hell" for his role in the war on drugs, but later she regretted what she called her "inflammatory" remark.

The comment from Preckwinkle, known more for a reserved, straight-ahead political style, came at a conference led by former Republican Gov. Jim Edgar, who's now at the University of Illinois Institute of Government and Public Affairs.

Preckwinkle was defending the recent move by the city of Chicago to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana by allowing police to write tickets, saying out-of-whack drug laws unfairly lead to more minorities behind bars.

Samuel L. Jackson asks why
GOP 'spared' by tropical storm

The Hill, by Daniel Strauss

Samuel L. Jackson on Monday tweeted it was "unfair" that Tropical Storm Isaac had spared the GOP convention in Tampa and appeared to be heading for New Orleans.

Jackson said in a profanity-filled tweet that he was "not understanding God's plan" given the fact that the storm was not disrupting the Republican gathering.

"Unfair s---," the Oscar-nominated actor known for his colorful language said on Twitter.

"GOP spared by Isaac! NOLA prolly f----- again!"

Less than a half-hour later, Jackson apologized for the earlier tweet, writing that it had stirred up a hornet's nest. "Apologies to God, Tampa, da GOP& Isaac(sp)! Who played the Race card?!," he said on Twitter.

Fired Yahoo! News DC Bureau Chief
Apologizes For ‘Inappropriate And
Thoughtless Joke’

Mediaite, by Meenal Vamburkar

Earlier today, Yahoo! News fired their Washington bureau chief David Chalian after he made a joke about Mitt and Ann Romney being “happy to have a party when black people drown” — a reference to Hurricane Isaac, which has been affected the Gulf Coast and Louisiana. Chalian apologized for his comment, calling it “inappropriate” and “thoughtless.”

RELATED: Yahoo! News Fires Washington Bureau Chief Following Remark About Romneys, Blacks

Chalian apologized via Twitter and released the following statement (per BuzzFeed):

I am profoundly sorry for making an inappropriate and thoughtless joke. I was commenting on the challenge of staging a convention during a hurricane and about campaign optics. I have apologized to the Romney campaign, and I want to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to Gov. and Mrs. Romney. I also regret causing any distraction from the exceptional coverage of the Republican convention by Yahoo News and ABC News.

Yahoo! News confirmed they’ve terminated his employment, releasing their own statement earlier today:.
