Yesterday, we told you that David Siegel, the humongously wealthy CEO who threatened to lay his workers off if Obama was reelected, did not, in fact, lay them off—he gave everyone raises.

Yes some are laying workers off...just proves that people shouldn't work for repubs...they are bitter and sore losers...can't handle the people's will

List Of Companies That Have Announced Layoffs Or Closings Since Obama Won Second Term
Image
The next four years are going to be a disaster.

Quote:
• Energizer -

The St. Louis-based company said Thursday that it expects to shed about 1,500 employees. When finished, the restructuring should lead to $200 million in pretax yearly savings, Energizer said. It aims to have most of its restructuring steps finished by the end of September 2014.

• Exide Technologies -

Exide Technologies announced Thursday that it will be idling its lead-recycling operations in Laureldale and laying off 150 workers, effective no later than March 31.

• Westinghouse -

Westinghouse Anniston, the contractor responsible for shutting down Anniston’s chemical weapons incinerator, has reduced its workforce by another 50 employees.

• Research in Motion Limited -

Research in Motion Ltd., the maker of BlackBerry smartphones, laid off about 200 people at its U.S. headquarters in Irving on Wednesday, according to a source close to the company who did not want to be named.

• Lightyear Network Solutions -

More than one dozen employees at a Pikeville company lost their jobs this week. Officials with Lightyear Network Solutions said they are consolidating offices in Louisville and Pikeville to save money.

• Providence Journal -

The Providence Journal Co. laid off 23 full-time workers Wednesday as part of a cost-cutting effort, including 16 members of the Providence Newspaper Guild and 7 non-union employees.

• Hawker Beechcraft -

The company says 240 employees will lose their jobs with the closing of Hawker Beechcraft Services facilities in Little Rock, Ark.; Mesa, Ariz.; and San Antonio, Texas.

• Boeing (30% of their management staff) -

Boeing Co. said Wednesday it plans to employ 30% fewer executives at its Boeing Defense, Space & Security unit by the end of 2012 compared to 2010 levels.

• CVPH Medical Center -

CVPH Medical Center has handed pink slips to 17 employees. The layoffs — nine in management and eight hourly staffers — are part of an effort to “help bolster the hospital’s financial position in 2013 and beyond,” a press release said.

There’s more…

Oh the election results were frightful
But the fire will be delightful
And since we’ve no place else to turn
Let It Burn! Let It Burn! Let It Burn!

There’s no sign of destruction stopping
So I’ve bought some corn for popping
There’s just one way progressives learn
Let It Burn! Let It Burn! Let It Burn!

Now the country is slowly dying
Voters spoke, there’s no denying
Let the country get what it earned
Let It Burn! Let It Burn! Let It Burn!

Just proves what us middle class knew all along...Most employers don't care about their workers...instead of giving their employees health insurance they would rather lay them off or reduce their hours...Another reason why we need unions...to fight for the workers!!! and why rethuglicons are against them...Thanks for posting the names of the businesses...I will make every effort not to patronize them...Will be calling Papa John's tomorrow to let them know they have lost my business...

If you stop eating at Papa John's, business will decrease even further and more delivery drivers and cooks will lose their jobs. Although those positions will hardly finance a middle-class lifestyle, except maybe in Hammond/Gary/East Chicago/Whiting, you won't be hurting anyone but members of the 99%.

And what is stopping unions from fighting for these workers? Can't electricians and teachers walk out in sympathy with these job losses? What about professional sports unions? Are they going to stick up for these poor saps who will be losing their jobs?

These soon-to-be-jobless may not be able to put food on the table or buy clothes and other essentials, but dammit all, they will have their "free" health insurance!

I'm sure Boeing will miss your business, but look at the bright side: at least they are cutting executives loose, and not dumping any of the Carhartt and flannel crowd....yet.

And since these workers should never have been stupid enough to go to work for Republicans, maybe the pizza cooks, delivery guys, and cashiers can find real high-paying jobs as analysts for Warren Buffet or as engineers at Microsoft.

Finally, given that the President and the economy recently created over 800,000 jobs, the loss of the relative few mentioned in the article is incidental. There are good jobs to be found everywhere now and when 800,000 more jobs are created next month these people will have their pick of career paths and salaries.

Announcing that you're a greedy corporate prick...brilliant!
Yeah, that's good for business.
I'll be sure to go to Chillies and Friday's instead of Apllebee's.
As business picks up at the other restaurants, those restaurants will hire the laid off.

Papa John's? That's always been crap, who cares.

I'll bet that it will come as news to those to be terminated that each and every one of them worked for companies that produced crap. Especially as seen by someone sitting in the Eden known as Northwest Indiana.

Hey, maybe your friend with the hobby shop, the guy with the lawn cutting and snow removal service, the crate builder, and the machinist can pick up the slack. It goes without saying that all of them must be tremendously successful and are ready to step up and offer full health care benefits, competitive salaries, tuition reimbursement, day care, all federal holidays off, and equal pay for women (they all DO employ equal numbers of men and women, don't they?).
