'Nuff said. There isn't enough money in all of Illinois to fix Cook County--isn't the governor still whining about insufficient funds after raising the income tax by 67%? The same will happen in Lake County if corrupt, wasteful Democrats get their county income tax. It will do nothing but create an influx of friends and relatives into government positions and cries for more taxes to pay for cops, firemen, and teachers.

Where I live, we don't have a local option income tax. We don't need it. On a nominal basis, it is a good deal more expensive to live here, but on a percentage basis, it is much cheaper than Northwest Indiana. We have public servants that know their place and elected officials that actually have the skills and initiative to survive outside of the public sector should they lose their offices. The schools work and the students are pretty well prepared for life in 2012 and not for outdated heavy industrial work that all but went out in the late 1970's. We are lucky enough to have a workable mix of blue-collar positions, white-collar work, high-tech, academic, and military opportunities in this corner of the world.

The people who run our towns and cities are not all municipal workers whose fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts, grandfathers, and grandmothers were municipal workers. A good number got their positions through connections but far more are there because they are good at what they do, not because their relatives played high school sports together. I moved to a place where the smart, productive people that once lived in places like NWI headed for when it became evident that Da' Region and places like it were toast.

So, you can laugh all you want, but now the young, brown liberals so beloved of idiots like Sparks Hein are discharging pistols in Southlake Mall and robbing Radio Shacks in Munster. Eventually you will figure out that the joke has been on you.

So where is this magic, wonderful Garden of Eden?

Why would anyone want to leave an area that is dirty, worn out, endlessly corrupt and wasteful with abysmal schools and is dominated by The Murder Capital of the U.S.? Why would anyone look for anything better when they could stay and watch their investment in their business and home rot out from under them?

I don't know exactly where you or anyone else who posts here lives, save for the ones that have explicitly stated so. What really matters is a given person's take on things, and you, Chuck, and Sparks are pure Reege-tards. That is a disease no home or business owner wants spreading to their locales.
