A new bipartisan poll finds that most Americans support creation of a special congressional committee to investigate events surrounding the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya.

Among voters who were polled, 62 percent believe “it is important” for Congress to establish a singular committee to address unanswered questions about the bombing in Benghazi, Libya, that claimed four American lives, including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, according to pollsters John McLaughlin, a Republican, and Pat Caddell, a Democrat.

More than 80 percent of Republicans and 58 percent of independents also support creation of a special panel to assess the security levels prior to the attack, and to hold accountable officials in the Obama administration who have been accused of covering up alleged failures to maintain those levels.

And nearly half of Democrats don’t believe the administration “has been honest and forthcoming” about the Benghazi attacks, the poll found, along with 89 percent of Republicans and 63 percent of independents.

At least five CIA personnel, including government contractors, were asked to sign a second non-disclosure agreement after the Benghazi terrorist attack, Fox News has learned.

While the three-page NDA, obtained by Fox News, does not contain specific references to the 2012 attack which killed four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, it does contain standard language that unauthorized disclosures could lead to “temporary loss of pay or termination” and “in some circumstances, constitute a criminal offense.”

Sources not authorized to speak on the record, given the sensitivity of this week’s closed-door testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, said the five CIA personnel did not feel pressure to sign the document. But they felt the request for a second non-disclosure agreement after the terrorist attack was odd and not standard practice because their original NDA’s were still in effect, and only some in the group were undergoing contract modifications that might require a new NDA.

A Republican member of Congress in charge of investigating the Benghazi attacks in which four Americans were killed said Monday that questions remain about what happened that night but he does not think the Obama administration formulated a “complete cover-up.”

He said questions do remain, however, including if there was a lull in activity between the sparse gunfire.

In addition, Westmoreland said that when the CIA arrived at the compound that night, regional security forces were unarmed and one officer didn’t have his shoes on.

“I think they were totally unprepared for any type of attack,” he said.

Westmoreland said the committee is looking into why a directive was released on August 11 telling the personnel in Benghazi that “you are on your own.”

The compound itself is not set up for protection,” Westmoreland said, adding that the CIA operatives said “they couldn’t believe those guys were over there as unprepared and unequipped as they were.”

“We have been chasing every rabbit that’s popped its head out of the rabbit hole and we’re going to continue to do that,” he said.

Hillary Clinton called the Benghazi terror attack the “biggest regret” of her tenure as secretary of State on Monday, a message she’s expected to emphasize as she ponders a 2016 White House run.

Republicans have hammered Clinton over the death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in 2012, chipping away at her record on national security. An internal review of the attack faulted the State Department for failing to provide better security at the U.S. consulate but Republicans say Clinton has unfairly escaped blame.

Clinton slammed her critics at a Senate hearing last year – she famously demanded to know “what difference does it make?” what prompted the attack – but has since adopted a different tone.

“My biggest, you know, regret is what happened in Benghazi,” Clinton said when asked to identify “do-overs” of her time as America’s top diplomat during her keynote appearance before the the National Automobile Dealers Association in New Orleans. “It was a terrible tragedy, losing four Americans, two diplomats and now it’s public, so I can say two CIA operatives, losing an ambassador like Chris Stevens, who was one of our very best and had served in Libya and across the Middle East and spoke Arabic.”

In a significant upset for the Obama administration, Fox News released a poll today showing most Americans want Congress to continue investigating the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.

The question was specifically related to how the White House handled Benghazi, reading, “should Congress continue to investigate the Obama administration’s handling of the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya that resulted in the deaths of four Americans?”

A 66% majority responded affirmatively. The numbers show that this majority represents 50% of registered Democrats and 83% of registered Republicans. Ninety-two percent of self-identified tea partiers responded yes.

This comes despite an ongoing campaign by the administration and the mainstream media at large to label the matter closed and move on.

Far being a “Fox News controversy” as the President called it, the events in Benghazi and the Obama administration’s handling of it, both before and after the attack, leave a lot of questions that a sizable majority of Americans are demanding be answered.

On Tuesday, an email obtained by the government watchdog Judicial Watch revealed that a senior American advisor informed then National Security Advisor Susan Rice to emphasize that the deadly 2012 attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya was the result of a spontaneous protest arising from an inflammatory YouTube video. Transcripts later revealed that senior defense officials had informed the administration on the night of the assault that the event was a “terrorist attack.”

Fox’s intel correspondent Catherine Herridge reported that a September 14 emails links White House Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes advised Rice to focus on the YouTube video during her appearances on a variety of Sunday morning news programs:

Among the goals Rhodes outlined for Rice was for her “to underscore that these protests are rooted in an internet video, and not a broader failure of policy.”

A majority thinks the White House has tried to deceive people about the September 11, 2012 terrorist attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. At the same time, Republicans are seen as politicizing the issue rather than trying to get to the truth.

These are just some of the findings from the latest Fox News poll.

Fifty-four percent of voters think the Obama administration has been deceitful about the events surrounding the Benghazi attacks. Half say the same about former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton (50 percent).

In addition, by a 51-39 percent margin, voters say the White House knowingly lied about the attacks to help President Obama’s re-election campaign.

Among Democrats, 25 percent say Obama has tried to deceive on Benghazi and 23 percent think the White House lied to help the campaign.

You are unlikely to be surprised to learn that she attacks the motives of her critics, contends the intelligence community believed the attack started as a protest — even though she was the one who first issued a statement declaring the attack video-related, while it was still going on — and contends the government did everything it could to rescue those under attack.

She also “points out that she ordered an investigation into what happened nine days after the attacks” — it’s unclear why this is considered exculpatory or laudatory, instead of a strangely delayed absolutely necessary duty – and that she “agreed with and implemented all 29 of the recommendations made by a review board” — a review board that so thoroughly preemptively rejected the notion of her responsibility that they never bothered to interview her.
