Trump campaign promises vs. progress:
1) Top generals will have 30 days to submit to the Oval Office a plan for soundly and quickly defeating ISIS. – No plan yet.
2) Complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States – Limited, seven-country, temporary travel ban immediately blocked by federal courts. So far, no shutdown anywhere.
3) Get rid of NAFTA. – No action yet.
4) Scrap the IRAN deal. – Considering options. May keep.
5) Build a wall inexpensively and Mexico will pay for it. – Congress is soliciting preliminary proposals. GOP leaders are estimating $12 to $15 billion. U.S. taxpayers will pay for it.
6) Immediately repeal and replace Obamacare with great, great healthcare at a fraction of the cost. – No repeal or replacement yet. Congress is considering legislation which would modify Obamacare to reduce the number of insured and increase premiums for older middle-class Americans. Passage unlikely due to GOP resistance.
7) Drain the swamp – Filled the cabinet with Washington politicians, major campaign contributors, oil industry and Wall Street insiders.
Will rarely leave the White House – Left Washington for four Florida resort getaways in the first five weeks, including a 2020 campaign rally and multiple golf outings.
9) Will not take a salary and will not cost the taxpayers a penny. – Will take a salary after all, but will donate to charity at end of year. Will cost taxpayers $400,000 per year, and will generate an income tax deduction.
How's that for the great orange hope??
