March For Science Organizers Don’t Want Bill Nye As Leader Because He’s A ‘White Male’

Image

The left is racist, but it's a "good" racism because they mean well. Except when they don't! The road to hell and all that.

The March for Science is having a tough time deciding whether the march should focus on “diversity and inclusion” or health and climate policy.

They were supposed to have gotten their internal issues under control, but this week a new fight broke out over whether Bill Nye the Science Guy, the former children’s television host who considers himself the leader of the “pro-science movement” should lead the protest. The problem? Nye is a “white male.”

Nye, who is not, in fact, a scientist, except on television (he’s an engineer by trade), was slated to be the March’s chair, and an announcement was made last week. But organizers quickly panicked that having Nye at the forefront of the event meant they might be substantiating the idea that scientists are only old white men.

Again, Nye actually isn’t a scientist, but whatever.

“I love Bill Nye,” said Stephani Page, a member of the March’s board, who was critical of what she considered the March’s lack of diversity. “But I do feel comfortable saying to you what I said to the steering committee: He is a white male, and in that way he does represent the status quo of science, of what it is to be a scientist.”

To round out the March’s public face, then, the people in charge were forced to add two women of color as Nye’s co-chairs, “to put up a picture of science that did not just fit the white male image.”

Elizabeth Warren’s Female Staffers Made 71% Of Male Staffers’ Salaries In 2016

Image

Today is Equal Pay Day and Liz Warren celebrates by paying her female staffers almost 30% less than her male staffers.

The gender pay gap in Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D., Mass.) is nearly 10 percent wider than the national average, meaning women in the Massachusetts Democrat’s office will have to wait longer than most women across the country to recognize Equal Pay Day.

Equal Pay Day, created two decades ago by the National Committee on Pay Equity, is scheduled by using the Census Bureau annual unadjusted gender pay gap to determine how far into the next year women would have to work to match annual earnings of men. Last year’s figures, showing that women earned 79.6 percent of what men earned, put Equal Pay Day on Tuesday April 4, more than three months into the calendar year.

However, women working for Warren were paid just 71 cents for every dollar paid to men during the 2016 fiscal year, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

The median annual earnings for women staffers, $52,750, was more than $20,000 less than the median annual earnings for men, $73,750, according to the analysis of publicly available Senate data.

When calculated using average salaries rather than median, the pay gap expands to just over $26,051, or about 31 percent.

Consistent with previous Free Beacon analyses of Senate salary data, only full-time staffers who were employed for the entire period in question were included in the calculations.

For example, Warren’s former chief of staff Mindy Myers and her male replacement Dan Geldon were not included because neither worked the full year.

Among employees employed the entire year, only one woman, Warren’s director of scheduling, earned a six-figure salary, at $100,624.88.

Five men—Warren’s director of oversight and investigations ($156,000), legislative director ($149,458), deputy chief of staff ($119,375), Massachusetts state director ($152,310), and deputy state director ($113,750)—earned more than Warren’s highest paid woman staffer in 2016.

Many discount attributing gender pay differences to discrimination, arguing that these comparisons fail to take into account several contributing factors, but Warren is not one of them.

Warren said on last year’s Equal Pay Day that the American workplace was “rigged against women” and called it a “national day of embarrassment” for the nation.

“Today is Equal Pay Day, and by the sound of it, you would think it’s some sort of historic holiday commemorating the anniversary of a landmark day that our country guaranteed equal pay for women,” Warren said. “But that’s not what this is about. Not even close.

Obama Thought Clinton’s Handling Of Email Server Was ‘Political Malpractice’

Image

It wasn't just political malpractice. It was illegal. You know it. I know it. Obama knows it. Comey and Lynch know it.

Former President Barack Obama thought his former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s handling of the scandal surrounding her use of a private email server was “political malpractice,” a new book reveals.

The Hill’s Amie Parnes and Sidewire’s Jonathan Allen report in “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign” that while Obama campaigned for Clinton for president in public, he kept his concerns over the scandal private.

“He couldn’t understand what possessed Hillary to set up the private e-mail server, and her handling of the scandal — obfuscate, deny, and evade — amounted to political malpractice,” the authors wrote.

Warren Hits Obama Over Economic Record in New Interview
Appears to knock Hillary Clinton while criticizing Dems' ties to 'the rich and the powerful'

Image

Guess she wouldn’t be getting access to the fabled Obama database

Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.) seemed to take a swing at her party’s last two presidential nominees, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, in an interview published Monday.

In her interview with the Guardian, Warren said that many Americans were “left behind” economically during Obama’s presidency.

“I think President Obama, like many others in both parties, talks about a set of big national statistics that look shiny and great but increasingly have giant blind spots,” Warren said. “That GDP, unemployment, no longer reflect the lived experiences of most Americans. And the lived experiences of most Americans is that they are being left behind in this economy.”

Biden: “Never Thought” Hillary Was “A Great Candidate,” Thought “I Was Great Candidate”

Image

Wow, quite the zing at Hillary, Uncle Joe…

Former Vice President Joe Biden said Hillary Clinton was “never a great candidate” — but that he was.

“I never thought she was a great candidate. I thought I was a great candidate,” Biden said at the SALT hedge fund conference in Las Vegas on Thursday, CNN reported.

Despite his blunt assessment of the former Democratic candidate, Biden said Clinton “would have been a really good president.”

Asked if he will seek the presidency in 2020, when he would be almost 78 years old, Biden said: “Could I? Yes. Would I? Probably not.”

Joe Lieberman Is Too ‘Extreme’ for Bernie Sanders

Image

Lieberman made the deadly mistake of actually agreeing with Republicans on some issues. That makes him ‘too extreme’ for Bernie.

For Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.), former Senate colleague Joe Lieberman is an unacceptable choice to serve as the next FBI director.

Lieberman’s views are too “extreme,” according to Sanders, a self-identified democratic socialist.

Lieberman’s name emerged on Thursday as the frontrunner to replace fired FBI Director James Comey. Since then, numerous Democrats, in and out of the Senate, have voiced their opposition to Lieberman. Critics have expressed concern about Lieberman’s lack of federal law enforcement experience, past partisan activity, and possible connections to President Trump through the law firm at which Lieberman currently works.

Now, Sanders has joined the chorus. Tweeting on Friday afternoon, Sanders said that Lieberman failed to meet his bar because he would be “perceived as a political appointee.”

Biden: I Knew Hillary Would Lose

Image

If he thought that, why are "they" still so bothered?

Former Vice President Joe Biden reportedly told a group of donors on Friday evening that he knew Hillary Clinton was doomed to lose the election one month before it took place.

Biden was speaking to a closed-door gathering during an annual donor conference hosted by Mitt Romney, according to Politico.

Biden claimed that he knew Clinton was in trouble in the crucial battleground states based on his experience campaigning there during the two presidential races with President Obama.

Biden also encouraged Romney to run for the Senate.

Bernie Sanders lambasts 'absolute failure' of Democratic party's strategy

Image

Bernie warming up for his fact-finding mission to Venezuela.

Bernie Sanders has criticised the Democratic party’s current direction as “an absolute failure” in a speech at the People’s Summit in Chicago.

Speaking to a crowd of 4,000 activists, Sanders hailed the “enormous progress in advancing the progressive agenda”, saying the increasing House and Senate support for a $15 minimum wage and the opposition to the Trans-Pacific partnership showed the success of the movement.

But the Vermont senator said that establishment Democrats were standing in the way of further progress.

“The current model and the current strategy of the Democratic party is an absolute failure,” Sanders said.

“The Democratic party needs fundamental change. What it needs is to open up its doors to working people, and young people, and older people who are prepared to fight for social and economic justice.

“The Democratic party must understand what side it is on. And that cannot be the side of Wall Street, or the fossil fuel industry, or the drug companies.”

Sanders’s speech was rapturously received at the People’s Summit, a gathering of some of the most influential progressive activists and organizations in the country.

There had been an urgency to the event on Friday and Saturday around building on the momentum of Sanders’s presidential campaign, with a focus on encouraging people from different backgrounds to run for office around the country.

Against that backdrop, Sanders’s criticism of the Democratic party as out-of-touch and elitist appeared to ring true for activists at the summit, including those who are planning to run for office for the first time in the coming months.

Brandy Brooks, who is running in the Democratic primary for the Montgomery county council in Maryland, told the Guardian that until recently she “didn’t think politics was for someone like me”.

“I am a short, black, slightly overweight-ish woman,” Brooks said, in a rather harsh self-assessment.

Sanders Slams Democratic Party: Trump Didn’t Win Election, Democrats Lost It

Image

Bernie tries his hand at getting DemocRATS to take responsibility for their own loss, Republicans KNOW this will never happen.

Right chuckmo48?

You tube link:https://youtu.be/raoGm84UD5E

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) blasted the Democratic Party on Saturday, saying that President Donald Trump didn't win the 2016 election, but rather Democrats lost it.

During a speech in Chicago at "The People's Summit," Sanders criticized the party whose nomination he ran for in the 2016 election.

"Now I am often asked by the media and others, ‘How did it come about that Donald Trump, the most unpopular presidential candidate in the modern history of our country, won the election?’" Sanders said. "And my answer is that Trump didn't win the election, the Democratic Party lost the election."

The liberal crowd applauded Sanders as he also went after the Democratic Party leadership.

Sanders also mentioned the failures of Democrats over the last several years in races besides the presidential one.

"But we also have to understand that Democrats have lost the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, Republicans now control almost two-thirds of the governor's chairs throughout this country and over the last nine years, Democrats have lost almost 1,000 legislative seats in states all across this country," Sanders said.

"Today, in almost half of the states in America, Democratic Party has almost no political presence at all," Sanders added. "Now if that's not a failure, if that's not a failed model, I don't know what a failed model is."

Sanders has previously criticized the Democratic Party model as a failing one. During the party's "Unity Tour" alongside Democratic National Committee chair Tom Perez, Sanders refused to identify as a Democrat.

Scores of farm workers, activists march on Ben & Jerry's

Image

Hey, hey ho, ho, Ben and Jerry gotta go… I've always been more of a Frusen Glädjé fan.

Scores of dairy farm workers and activists marched Saturday to a Ben & Jerry’s factory to push for better pay and living conditions on farms that provide milk for the ice cream maker that takes pride in its social activism.

Protesters said Ben & Jerry’s agreed two years ago to participate in the so-called Milk with Dignity program, but the company and worker representatives have yet to reach an agreement.

“We can’t wait any more. We are going to pressure them and see what happens,” said Victor Diaz, a Mexican immigrant now working on a farm in Vergennes.

The march that began Saturday morning in Montpelier ended mid-afternoon at the plant in Waterbury, about 14 miles away. Organized Will Lambek said the marchers presented a letter to company CEO Jostein Solheim who said the company was committed to joining the program.

Ben & Jerry’s spokesman Sean Greenwood said before Saturday’s march from the Statehouse to the Waterbury factory that the company was eager to reach an agreement and negotiations were underway.

“We are a values-led business. We frame ourselves as an aspiring social justice company,” said Greenwood. “We try to do good with everything we can with our business. Dairy has definitely been one of those issues we have done a ton of work on for decades.”

Even Liberals Are Worried About Liberal Extremism

Image

Typical lefties, always projecting when all they ever had to do was look in the mirror.

Right chuckmo48?

Experts on extremism are increasingly shifting their focus from right-wing extremism to what they see as a rise of violence on the left, according to a new report.

“The past few months have seen enough of a rise in politically motivated violence from the far left that monitors of right-wing extremism have begun shifting their focus, and sounding the alarm,” a report on the left-leaning website Vice.com said.

Liberal violence has seen an uptick since President Trump was elected.

Democrats Seethe After Georgia Loss: ‘Our Brand Is Worse Than Trump’

Image

What? You mean putting men in women's restrooms isn't a core issue?

You mean that making arbitrary traits such as race, sex, or ethnicity a qualification for
public office might have some massive drawbacks?

Who could possibly have known??

Democrats scrambled to regroup on Wednesday after a disappointing special election defeat in Georgia, with lawmakers, activists and labor leaders speaking out in public and private to demand a more forceful economic message heading into the 2018 elections.

Among Democrats in Washington, the setback in Georgia revived or deepened a host of existing grievances about the party, accentuating tensions between moderate lawmakers and liberal activists and prompting some Democrats to question the leadership and political strategy of Nancy Pelosi, the House minority leader.

But the overarching theme among Democrats was a sense of sharp urgency about crafting a positive agenda around kitchen-table issues. Congressional Democrats have already been meeting in private to shape a core list of economic policies, but their work did not reach any conclusive point during a long season of special elections.

“The Democratic caucus is united in our view that our message, heading into 2018, should be aggressively focused on job creation and economic growth,” Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York, a member of the Democratic leadership team, said on Wednesday morning.

Representative Seth Moulton, Democrat of Massachusetts, said the defeat was “frustrating” and urged a shake-up at the top of the party.

Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio, who tried to unseat Ms. Pelosi as House minority leader late last fall, said she remained a political millstone for Democrats. But Mr. Ryan said the Democratic brand had also become “toxic” in much of the country because voters saw Democrats as “not being able to connect with the issues they care about.”

“Our brand is worse than Trump,” he said.

Democrats Turn On Pelosi, Each Other, After Disappointing Special Elections

Image

Obama tried to destroy this country, but he did a pretty good job of destroying the democrat party.

It wasn’t a good week for the Democrats. After losing the most promising of several competitive special congressional elections this year in Georgia’s 6th District, party activists formed a circular firing squad and began taking pot shots at one another.

There was infighting between centrist and liberal Democrats, with the latter quoting Bernie Sanders in saying of defeated Georgia 6th nominee Jon Ossoff that not all Democrats are equally progressive. There were debates between whether it made more sense to turn out minorities or win back working-class white voters.

Most surprising, perhaps, was the criticism of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., after she was the political figure Republicans had the most success turning into a bogeyman in the Georgia race.

“The brand is just bad,” Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, complained to CNN. “I don’t think people in the beltway are realizing just how toxic the Democratic Party brand is in so many parts of the country.”

Asked if Pelosi was really more toxic than President Trump, Ryan replied, “The honest answer is in some areas of the country — yes, she is. I think that in certain areas, like in some of these special election districts, it doesn’t benefit our candidates to be tied to her.”

Ryan mounted a doomed challenge to Pelosi’s leadership after the 2016 elections and got crushed. But not everyone who sounded this theme was a longtime Pelosi detractor.

“I think you’d have to be an idiot to think we could win the House with Pelosi at the top,” said Rep. Filemon Vela, D-Texas, told Politico. “Nancy Pelosi is not the only reason that Ossoff lost. But she certainly is one of the reasons.”

“Nancy Pelosi was a great speaker,” Rep. Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y., said on MSNBC. “She is a great leader. But her time has come and gone.”

“It’s time for a new generation of leadership in the party,” Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., remarked to CNN’s Jake Tapper.

Obama Attracts Liberal Criticism After String of Luxury Vacations

Image

Notice the putz is sitting in the back of the raft. Still leading from behind.

And Mooch still looks pissed off, probably because they tried to make her wear shoes.

Former President Barack Obama is causing frustration among Democrats by going on a plethora of luxury vacations following his exit from the White House.

Obama has taken his family on a series of tours of millionaire and billionaire luxury retreats in the last few months, according to Democrats and activists who spoke to Fox News.

Fox News listed some of the more memorable vacations the Obama family has enjoyed in 2017:

Visiting actor Marlon Brando’s private island
Four Seasons in Bali, where rooms cost $2,000 per night minimum
A Palm Springs Estate
Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island
Mid Pacific Country Club in Oahu, Hawaii
