Bush-backed immigration bill stalls in Senate

The vote was 45-50 against limiting debate on the bill, 15 short of the 60 that the bill's supporters needed to prevail. Most Republicans voted to block Democrats' efforts to bring the bill to a final vote.

I think this the last we see of this nonsense...Can we now get to more important things like defending our border?

Do you have a problem with the US government enforcing the law already on the books and securing the borders before anythng else is done? If so, can you explain?

I think we should all report expresso to the admins for not only being offtopic by sting off topic reported in every thread. But also tell the admins we will leave if he doesn't boot ezpresso.

first I like the board here. it is nice and somewhat calm, and we have
a pretty good group of people. and we have a pretty good admin.

the admin reads here all of the time. the board I mean,

he knows what expresso's behavior is.

I just don't have the time to deal with expresso.

but as strange as it sounds, I"m against banning people from boards.
we wouldn't like it if we were banned. and we shouldn't wise it on others.

he is being a pain in the neck. and sometimes his replies are boardline
on his language. like his calling Mary Lou a ho and some of the other
things. I know that this is language that is being made popular by rap singers and that,
but I was always brought up being told that if you had to lower yourself
to use street language or curse words, it was because you weren't smart enough to have a good vocabulary.
and somertimes his replies are just bs.

the best thing to do with him is to ignore him.

Please let's not screw up this message board the way the Times has done with their board. I like that the admin here takes more of a hands off approach, even with idiots like Big Unit. Just ignore the posters you don't like. I really believe freedom of speech is preferable to heavy handed moderation of the board, and if you start calling for banishment of people you don't like, you start down the slippery slope like the TImes. I'm not just saying this because EXpresso is my friend. I'm really sad to see what's happening at the Times as a result of their tighter control of d the board. Whole topics disappear now when certain people don't care for the subject matter and whine about it too the people in charge there. Think caefully before you call for the same thing here.

Sure. I think the border SHOULD be secured, it is the law already for one thing. For another, it doesn't make sense that we are "fighting a war on terrorism" yet anyone who wants to can apparently slip in. After that, worry about dealing with the undocumented people already here. If our country can absorb more people, I'm glad it is mostly Mexicans who seem to like us and our lifestyle. Some of the ethnic prejudice that surfaces in this debate makes me cringe. I'd like to see low-income Americans protected somehow from lower wages from all this. I don't know how you can do that.
