Two senior administration officials said Thursday that the Trump administration told four top State Department management officials that their services were no longer needed as part of an effort to “clean house†at Foggy Bottom. Patrick Kennedy, who served for nine years as the undersecretary for management, Assistant Secretaries for Administration and Consular Affairs Michele Bond and Joyce Anne Barr, and Ambassador Gentry Smith and Ambassador Gentry Smith, director of the Office for Foreign Missions, were sent letters by the White House that their service was no longer required, the sources told CNN. All four, career officers serving in positions appointed by the President, submitted letters of resignation per tradition at the beginning of a new administration. |

Nielsen: Early Oscars Ratings Show Fewer Viewers Than Last Year  Gee, I wonder if it could be because of the way they trash our President and country at every opportunity. ABC’s Sunday night broadcast of the 89th Academy Awards drew a 22.4 overnight rating, down 4 percent from last year’s low-rated show, according to Nielsen data released by the Walt Disney Co (DIS.N) unit. The dip in the early figures for the Oscars could break the streak of higher ratings for award shows in 2017, following the Grammys and Golden Globes viewership gains over last year. The 2016 Oscars show drew 34.4 million and was the third-lowest rated since 1974. Nielsen’s overnight rating measures 56 major markets in the United States, which represents about 70 percent of the country and is an early indication of the final number. ABC will release viewership figures covering all of the United States later on Monday. The awards went a few minutes past midnight on the East Coast and ended in controversy when presenters Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty mistakenly announced “La La Land†as the best picture winner after getting the wrong envelope. The actual winner, “Moonlight,†was eventually announced. |

NBC/WSJ Poll: Americans View Pelosi 6 Time More Negatively Than Trump  She's cost the Democrat party more than 80 House seats with her "leadership" and it's entirely possible House Republicans will be able to top 290 seats and get that two-thirds supermajority they would need to overcome any Trump vetoes (not that I expect any). According to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, President Trump has a net favorability rating of negative 4 points, while House minority leader Nancy Pelosi has a net rating of negative 25. The survey, released Sunday, found that 43 percent surveyed view the president positively or somewhat positively, while 47 percent see him in a negative or somewhat negative light. However, only 19 percent view Pelosi positively or somewhat positively, while 44 percent view her negatively or somewhat negatively. Pelosi is currently viewed 6 times more negatively than the President.
