Well the LMSM may give him a pass but at least, some are calling him out on his behavior.

Barack Obama's decision to play golf on Memorial Day was disrespectful and hardly presidential

By Nile Gardiner World Last updated: May 31st, 2011

Can you imagine David Cameron enjoying a round of golf on Remembrance Sunday? It would be inconceivable for the British Prime Minister to do so, and not just because of the usually dire weather at that time of the year. Above all, it would be viewed as an act of extremely bad taste on a day when the nation remembers and mourns her war dead. I can’t imagine the PM even considering it, and I’m sure his advisers would be horrified at the idea. And if the prime minister ever did play golf on such a sacrosanct day he would be given a massive drubbing by the British press, and it would never be repeated.

Contrast this with President Obama’s decision to play golf yesterday, Memorial Day, for the 70th time during his 28-month long presidency. For tens of millions of Americans, Memorial Day is a time for remembrance of the huge sacrifices made by servicemen and women on the battlefield. The president did pay his respects in the morning, laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery, but later in the day traveled to Fort Belvoir to play golf. The story has not been reported so far in a single US newspaper, but was made public by veteran White House correspondent Keith Koffler on his blog. Here’s Koffler’s report:

The business of memorializing our war dead done, President Obama headed out to the Fort Belvoir golf course today, finding his way onto the links for the ninth weekend in a row.

Obama earlier today laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and met with families of those killed in battle. But he emerged from the day’s solemnity to go golfing for the 12th time this year and the 70th time of his presidency.

The decision to golf on Memorial Day invites comparison with President George W. Bush, who gave up the game early in his presidency and said he did it out of respect for the families of those killed in Iraq.

Does it matter if the president chooses to play golf on Memorial Day, and for the second time in his presidency (he did so as well in 2009)? I think it does, and it displays extraordinarily bad judgment, not only by Obama himself but also by his advisers. His chief of staff for example should have firmly cautioned against it. President Obama is not just any American but Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces. The United States is currently engaged in a major war in Afghanistan with over 100,000 troops on the ground, and more than 1,500 have already laid down their lives for their country.

The least the president can do on Memorial Day is spend the whole day with veterans and servicemen’s families while acknowledging their sacrifice. As Koffler points out above, President George W. Bush stopped playing golf out of respect for the families of Iraq War dead. This demonstrated not only good judgment but humility and respect for the men and women who keep America safe. It is little wonder that, as Gallup reveals in a new poll, US military personnel and veterans give Barack Obama lower marks for his job performance than members of the general public. The president’s actions smack of poor taste, as well a lack of empathy and support for the US military, hardly the kind of leadership the White House should be projecting at a time of war.

Did you ever notice that when President Bush visited the troops he was welcomed right into the middle of the crowd by the troops?

Dumbo would always have a wall, a fence,a net,a rope, or a spaced barrier separating him from the troops. And when that was brought up they tried the staged crapola with troops all holding what appears to be the same exact digital camera and a less than enthusiastic look on their faces as if they were being ordered to smile.

VFW Demands Apology from MSNBC Host Over Comments About Fallen Soldiers
Sunday, 27 May 2012 07:52 PM

MSNBC host Chris Hayes says he's "uncomfortable" calling America's fallen soldiers 'heroes.'He thinks the term is "problematic."

Why, you may ask?

it seems that Hayes feels that by honoring those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country he may be legitimizing the US effort against terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Newsbusters, the conservative website that first noticed Hayes' struggle with heroism, asked "what does it say about the liberal chattering class, which Hayes epitomizes, that it chokes on calling America's fallen what they rightly and surely are: heroes?"

On Monday, Memorial Day, the Veterans of Foreign Wars demanded an apology from Hayes and MSNBC.

Chris Hayes' recent remarks on MSNBC regarding our fallen service members are reprehensible and disgusting," Richard DeNoyer, a VFW official, told Fox News in a statement.

"His words reflect his obvious disregard for the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have paid the ultimate price while defending our nation. His insipid statement is particularly callous because it comes at a time when our entire nation pauses to reflect and honor the memory of our nations' fallen heroes."

"It is especially devastating to the many broken-hearted children, spouses and parents, left behind to grieve for a loved one," DeNoyer also said. "Such an ignorant and uncaring and blatant disregard for people's deep feelings are indefensible, and that is why the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States demand that Mr. Hayes and MSNBC provides an immediate and unequivocal apology."

Politico reported that the blogosphere was heating up with anger over Hayes' comments.

Politico reported that Kurt Schlichter at Breitbart blasted Hayes for his comment, writing, “memo to Chris: they are heroes, and you don’t get a vote.”

“So, like so many other useless progressive fops who glide from cocktail party to panel discussion, Chris Hayes continues to push his progressive vision of collectivist serfdom from behind the unbreachable wall of American warriors,” Schlichter wrote. “He has not stood with them and, in fact, is unworthy of doing so. He is a parasite taking sustenance from the exertions of better men and women.”

Schlichter also picked apart Hayes’ line, “rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war.” The MSNBC host, Schlichter blogged, “sounds like one of my commie grad students trying to impress credulous freshman girls after a choom session in the quad.”

Finally, a veteran, wrote that he “can’t quite bring myself to be angry about it.”
“I feel sorry for Chris Hayes because sadly, this is his worldview. It’s how he thinks. It’s his value system, and it’s sad," the veteran wrote at The Right Sphere blog. "This is a man who over and over again has spoken with greater reverence about the ‘Occupy Movement’ than he did today about our fallen service members,”

Here's exactly what Hayes said, followed by the video:

"Thinking today and observing Memorial Day, that'll be happening tomorrow. Just talked with Lt. Col. Steve Burke [sic, actually Beck], who was a casualty officer with the Marines and had to tell people [inaudible]. Um, I, I, ah, back sorry, um, I think it's interesting because I think it is very difficult to talk about the war dead and the fallen without invoking valor, without invoking the words "heroes." Um, and, ah, ah, why do I feel so comfortable [sic] about the word "hero"? I feel comfortable, ah, uncomfortable, about the word because it seems to me that it is so rhetorically proximate to justifications for more war. Um, and, I don't want to obviously desecrate or disrespect memory of anyone that's fallen, and obviously there are individual circumstances in which there is genuine, tremendous heroism: hail of gunfire, rescuing fellow soldiers and things like that. But it seems to me that we marshal this word in a way that is problematic. But maybe I'm wrong about that

Disgrace: Obama Uses Memorial Day Speech To Campaign For Reelection, Honors Himself
Image
Pandering for votes to families of fallen American troops on Memorial Day. No doubt a new low for Obama.

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama paid tribute Monday to the men and women who have died defending America, singling out Vietnam veterans as an under-appreciated and sometimes maligned group of war heroes, vowing that “it will not happen again.”

“You were sometimes blamed for the misdeeds of a few,” Obama said. “You came home and were sometimes denigrated when you should have been celebrated. It was a national shame, a disgrace that should have never happened.”

Marking Memorial Day at both the Vietnam War Memorial and earlier at Arlington National Cemetery across the Potomac River from the capital, Obama noted that for the first time in nine years, “Americans are not fighting and dying in Iraq,” and the nation was winding down its role in the conflict in Afghanistan.

“After a decade under the dark cloud of war, we can see the light of the new day on the horizon,” Obama said to an audience gathered at the Arlington amphitheater lined with American flags under a warm, brilliant sun.

In this election year, Obama said the nation must remain committed to providing for the families of fallen soldiers and help returning service members seeking a job, higher education or health care benefits.

“As long as I’m president, we will make sure you and your loved ones will receive the benefits you’ve earned and the respect you deserve,” Obama said. “America will be there for you.”

Arc makes up crap and lies again.
The real story:
Obama says Vietnam veterans too often 'denigrated'

By KEN THOMAS, Associated Press – 21 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama paid tribute Monday to the men and women who have died defending America, pointing to Vietnam veterans as an under-appreciated and sometimes maligned group of war heroes who remained true to their nation despite an unwelcome homecoming.

Disgusting: Labor Department Honors Michelle Obama On Memorial Day Posters Instead of Fallen American Troops
Image
Rage inducing.

Quote:
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis has authorized new posters featuring first lady Michelle Obama to be placed in elevators throughout the Department of Labor headquarters in Washington, D.C.

These new posters feature a large photo of Michelle Obama and a picture of Solis, along with a few choice quotes about Memorial Day.

“In January, First Lady Michelle Obama joined Secretary Solis to announce proposed revisions to the FMLA that will expand military family leave provisions to support caregivers,” the poster reads. “Through our work, we honor our service members, veterans and military families every day.”

The poster then quotes the first lady saying, “We all have an obligation to serve our troops and veterans as well as they’ve served us.”

Rick Manning, the communications director for conservative group Americans for Limited Government told The Daily Caller that Memorial Day is supposed to be about honoring veterans and remembering fallen American soldiers, not about highlighting the Obama administration’s political agenda.

“Memorial Day is dedicated to honoring those American servicemen and women who have died in the defense of freedom around the world, it is stunning that the wartime Obama Labor Department would choose to ignore the ultimate sacrifice these fallen warriors have paid and instead have tried to make this day of remembrance about them,” Manning said in an email.
