Obama’s union bailout

The union workers at GM and Chrysler are among the highest-paid workers in the country. About $26.5 billion of what the government paid for the bailout went toward making sure these workers could continue to enjoy compensation that many Americans can only dream about.

More right wing bullshit, nonsense and lies in the Washington Times, a right wing propaganda rag.
Here's the facts:
Quote:
Compensation -- hourly wages plus bonuses, paid time off and overtime -- amount to an average of around $40 per hour. Straight pay -- no bonus, no overtime -- tops out around $30 per hour for long-time UAW members and around $20 for UAW members hired since 2008. Newly hired auto workers start at $14 as of 2008; before that, new hires started with hourly pay of about twice that.

As you idiots wonder WTF is wrong with our school system

North Carolina teacher who berated
student over Obama
criticism to keep job

Fox News

The North Carolina high school teacher whose rant against a student who questioned President Obama went viral will keep her job.

The Salisbury Post reports that Tanya Dixon-Neely was suspended without pay, but that she will return to school next year. As a condition of her return, she reportedly will be required to start what was described as a "monitored growth plan."

Superintendent Judy Grissom said in a statement that the teacher fell short of the school system's standards, but expressed a desire to move on from the incident.

"While I remain deeply concerned about the performance documented in the recording of Ms. Dixon-Neely's classroom, I have concluded that she should have a chance to improve her teaching skills," Grissom reportedly said.

In the original video, which went viral last month, student Hunter Rogers elicited a heated response from the teacher when he criticized Obama. The argument started when the classroom began discussing news reports that Mitt Romney bullied a fellow student when he was in high school. At the time, The Washington Post had recently published a lengthy article alleging that Romney, as a teenager, had cut off another student's hair.

"Didn't Obama bully somebody though?" Rogers asked when the report was brought up, referring to an incident Obama described in his memoir, "Dreams From My Father."

The teacher, in the video, said she didn't know whether Obama bullied anyone -- but the argument quickly escalated, as the teacher yelled at the student, telling him "there is no comparison."

Teachers Unions Go to Bat for Sexual Predators
Wall Street Journal, by Campbell Brown

By resisting almost any change aimed at improving our public schools, teachers unions have become a ripe target for reformers across the ideological spectrum. Even Hollywood, famously sympathetic to organized labor, has turned on unions with the documentary "Waiting for 'Superman'" (2010) and a feature film, "Won't Back Down," to be released later this year. But perhaps most damaging to the unions' credibility is their position on sexual misconduct involving teachers and students in New York schools, which is even causing union members to begin to lose faith.

In the last five years in New York City, 97 tenured teachers or school employees have been charged by the Department of Education with sexual misconduct. Among the charges substantiated by the city's special commissioner of investigation—that is, found to have sufficient merit that an arbitrator's full examination was justified—in the 2011-12 school year:

• An assistant principal at a Brooklyn high school made explicit sexual remarks to three different girls, including asking one of them if she would perform oral sex on him.

• A teacher in Queens had a sexual relationship with a 13-year old girl and sent her inappropriate messages through email and Facebook.

If this kind of behavior were happening in any adult workplace in America, there would be zero tolerance. Yet our public school children are defenseless.

Here's why. Under current New York law, an accusation is first vetted by an independent investigator. (In New York City, that's the special commissioner of investigation; elsewhere in the state, it can be an independent law firm or the local school superintendent.) Then the case goes before an employment arbitrator. The local teachers union and school district together choose the arbitrators, who in turn are paid up to $1,400 per day. And therein lies the problem.

AFL-CIO Chief On Why Some Of His Own Union Members Didn't Vote For Obama: "Pure Racism"
Image
Wow, did he really just play the race card on the members of his own union simply because they didn't vote for Obama?

Quote:
(Reuters) - President Barack Obama made history in his 2008 election victory as the first black U.S. president, but he risks achieving another, less welcome, first if he wins again in November.

Obama is on course to become the candidate with the lowest support from white male working class voters to win a U.S. election if he triumphs over Republican Mitt Romney on November 6.

Polls show support for Obama from white males without college degrees at under 30 percent, well below the 39 percent he had when he defeated Republican John McCain four years ago. While he has overwhelming support from Hispanics and blacks and does well among women, the Democratic president needs to shore up his backing among those men.

Richard Trumka, the most powerful U.S. union leader and an important bridge between the White House and blue-collar America, sees two solutions to Obama's problems: mount labor's largest voter outreach effort ever, and keep up the attacks on Romney's business record.

A quarter of AFL-CIO members did not vote for Obama in 2008.

"Some of this I think was pure racism,"
said Trumka. "Some of them would be gun owners, some of them would be right-wing. Some of them would be ... died-in-the-wool Republicans."

Democrats acknowledge that Obama is unlikely to capture the white male vote, but say he can be re-elected if he minimizes the damage because of his huge edge with black and Hispanic voters.

Public Sector Unions
Planning to Forcibly Enroll
Non-Government Employees

Breitbart's Big Government, by William Bigelow

The most terrifying aspect of the unions’ plan to take over America is this: they have a plan whereby they will be able to force huge swaths of America to be unionized. Their cunning scheme is revealed in Shadowbosses: Government Unions Control America and Rob Taxpayers Blind, the new blockbuster best-seller.

In Shadowbosses, author Mallory Factor explains that government employee unions are losing members as many state and local governments cut their employment rolls to balance their budgets. As retiring and laid-off government workers are not replaced, unions lose massive amounts of dues collected. For example, the NEA has lost 179,696 dues-paying active members, a 6.2% decline in membership and dues income, and greater declines are projected for the future. Thus the government employee unions have to look to new groups to grow their numbers.

Here’s how they plan to do it: they are using state governments to set up shell corporations that will turn self-employed workers receiving money from government programs into “government employees” who can be unionized. Already there are ten states that have set up shell corporations or other structures to forcibly unionize independent care providers, who are often people taking care of their disabled children or people taking care of their elderly parents who receive benefits from federal-state programs for their care .

The steps involved in the forced unionization are simple:

1.The providers have clients who pay for their services using government funds as “government employees.”

2. Because the providers are self-employed people who work for disabled people, but are partially or fully paid for with government programs that pay for the care of the disabled, either the state itself becomes the “employer of record” or the state creates a fictional council or government shell entity to serve as the “employer” of these self-employed providers. This may be done by a governor’s executive order or by act of a state legislature. Some of these shell entities are: the Michigan Quality Community Care Council (MQC3), the Michigan Home Based Child Care Council (MHBC3), and Missouri Quality Home Care Council.

3. Once the independent providers are “government employees”, they can be unionized, and forced to pay union dues, whether or not they join the union—in forced dues states.

A lawyer for the unions even admitted in court that this is a “slippery slope” and states could unionize “any group that accepted state subsidies” if the state considered it in its interest to unionize them.
