PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN -- The death toll in a massive suicide bombing climbed to more than 100 victims Saturday, as authorities continued to search mounds of rubble for survivors.

What part of the world militant didn't you get? Completely tragic and ruthless and happening in a country that has no government, no laws and about 20 competing warlords. The only fact is that it is in a predominantly Islamic country.

No different than the Lord's Resistance Army in Sudan where children are killed or have limbs amputated if they refuse to fight for the religions rebel army. Or Children that hacked other children to death in Rwanda.

Or the current United States position now that it has waived penalties on 3 different countries use of child soldiers.

Once again the United States has created it's own terrorist problem. The United States has blindly supported a dictator in Yemen for more than 20 years. Saleh has been president since 1990 when his government took over what were 2 different unique countries.

Currently there are 2 different separatist movements going on in Yemen. One in the north and one in the south. Both are fights for freedom from an oppressive dictator. And once again the United States has found itself on the wrong side of freedom. The north in particular. The northern separatists are known as Houthis. They are muslim but one of the minor sects known as Zaydi's. Their homeland is northern Yemen and portions of Southern Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia took the territory in the late 1960s when there was a weak government in Northern Yemen.

Yemen's dictator sees them as a threat to his government and Saudi Arabia sees them as a threat to an oil rich territory of their country. This has made them enemies of the United States. The United States has sided with the Yemeni government and the Saudi Arabians. To the point that the US is removing its opposition to Yemen using child soldiers.

I also find it interesting that a "incident" happens the Friday before major elections, a few days before the Fed is expected to announce quantitative easing, and only a few weeks before the deficit reduction panel announces their recommendations. Of which one is supposed to be the reduction of defense spending.

Fifty-two killed in Iraq church raid

(Reuters) - An al Qaeda attack that killed 52 hostages and police in a Catholic church in Baghdad was aimed at driving the embattled Christian minority out of the country, Iraq's human rights minister said on Monday.
Church officials described the attack, which began when gunmen seized the Our Lady of Salvation Church during Sunday mass, as the bloodiest against Iraq's Christians in the seven years of sectarian war that followed the 2003 U.S.-led invasion.

Al Qaeda's Iraqi affiliate, the Islamic State of Iraq, claimed responsibility in a statement posted on Islamist websites for the attack on "the dirty den of idolatry."

I'm sure matt could get moderate muslims to speak out...

Only thing is he'd have to dig them up from the mass graves scattered all over the middle east in order to do it.

Once again ... religious extremists. Never have I said that religious extremists are not dangerous or evil.

In the last week we have .... Hindu extremists attacking a christian seminary in India wounding 11. We have Buddhist extremists attacking a hindu temple in Nepal, killing 8. We have Christian Militias attacking Muslims in Nigeria killing six. And Jewish Extremists battling Israeli police after setting a mosque on fire in an Israeli Arab neighborhood.

It was never considered that the Japs who attacked Pearl Harbor were extremists...

Or the Germans who marched into Poland to be extremists
