Is that what we're really doing? I thought we were supposed to be licking our lips and hoping for total disaster. You know, get Obama out at any cost.

Well I certainly would NOT call mob rule, followed by the military taking over, any form of democracy.

Will a true democracy emerge in Egypt after Mubarak?

It would be great if it did.

But it is in no way guaranteed.

Not only that but it is the least likely outcome in an "muslim nation".

It seems to me most "muslim nations" fall into two categories "theocratic tyrannies" and "corrupt dictatorships."

Mubarek may have been a dictator but compared to other dictators like Assad in Syria, Kim Jong Il in North Korea, or the Castros in Cuba, just to name three, Mubarak comes off as enlightened, liberal and benevolent.

Yes?

He was our ally and played well with Israel.

Obama fumbled the ball, twice really, he neither supported our ally, nor did he truly support the repressed people overthrowing a dictator.

This must be the "nuance" John Kerry was always going on about.

Of course most of you are getting your marching orders from oxy-boy:

I have been waiting for one of you lefties to make this argument so I can throw this back in your face.

Rush is an entertainer on the radio, but you voted for and endorsed O'Bama/Biden, right?

First you don't see the difference between an envoy's visit and a President's visit, now you myopia blinds you to the difference between an entertainers view point and a sitting Vice President and Secretary of State!

Quote:
How history will judge Obama on Egypt

A dictator has fallen. A people are freed. The sky is the limit of their dream, and the dream of the rest of the world celebrating with them.

How will history judge President Barack Obama's response to the seismic changes that have happened in Egypt?

Observers around the globe are comparing the extraordinary events unfolding in and around Tahrir Square and the dramatic exit of Hosni Mubarak to the fall of the Berlin Wall, to the collapse of the Soviet Union or alternatively to the aspirations of the protesters of Tiananmen Square.

All these metaphors can only hint at the historic magnitude of what we have been seeing unfold in front of our eyes, and not just in Egypt. And we are still coming to terms with the uprising in Tunisia and the Green Movement in Iran that followed the disputed presidential election of 2009.

There is no doubt that when one puts these three events next to each other, all in the short span of 2½ years, the old, clichéd manner in which Washington tries to understand them categorically fails.

The Obama administration's response to the Egypt revolution has been, from beginning to end, indecisive and incoherent, leading one to wonder who really minds the shop at the White House at times of crisis.

Beginning with Vice President Joe Biden supporting President Hosni Mubarak as an ally and "not a dictator," and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton initially saying the regime was stable down to Obama handing the Egyptian president a laundry list of what he has to do "right now" before finally applauding the cause of the victorious protesters, we are witness to a political culture that's more embarrassing to the U.S. than the WikiLeaks disclosures.

Dumbass!

Arab capitals braced for violence as unrest spreads

It seems all of our little liberal friends have abandoned this thread, do you think they have rethought their support for Barry?

I bet Dumbo will have an opinion on the happenings in the middle east, just as soon as Valerie Jarrett tells him what his opinion is

Dumbo keeps sitting on his hands as the middle east erupts, or would voting "present" be a more apt metaphor?
