Five Nascar drivers decline
President Obama's White House invitation

KTNV-TV [Las Vegas NV], by Alexandra Wolf

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - Many people would jump at the chance to be honored by the President of the United States at the White House, regardless of their political views. But that might not be the case for a handful of NASCAR drivers.

On Wednesday, President Obama will honor NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and the other 11 Chase drivers from last year in a white house ceremony. But about half of the 2010 playoff contenders will not be there.

According to NASCAR, Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart will not be attending the White House visit. They say it's due to "schedule conflicts."

But many are speculating that their motives are political in nature.

Unpopular Obamas: Chris Matthews Bashes Barack, NASCAR Crowd Boos Michelle
Kate Hicks Web Editor, Townhall.com

Rough Sunday for the Obamas.

First, Chris Matthews -- yes, he of the tingling legs -- questions whether the president is deserving of a second term in a brutal interview with MSNBC's Alex Witt:

VIDEO

"There's nothing to root for," he says. And it seems a NASCAR crowd would agree, given the tepid reception they granted Michelle Obama as took the stage to call the start of a race. When her name is announced, the crowd boos:

VIDEO

Unsurprisingly, Michelle's efforts to rally support from middle America fell rather flat, but the former video indicates that Obama has lost allies, too -- Matthews' comments imply that even members of Congress are disillusioned with the president.

Forget about winning new voting blocs; it seems like Obama will have to fight hard to show even his base that he's deserving of a second term.

Have you heard the Obama reelection song?

Well you know everything's gonna be a breeze
That the end will no doubt justify the means
You could fix any problem with a slice of ease
Yes please

Well you might find out It'll go to your head
When you write a report on a book you never read
With a snap of your fingers you can make your bed
That's what I said

Everything is not what it seems
When you can get all you wanted in your wildest dreams
You might run into trouble if you go to extremes
Because everything is not what it seems

Everything is not what it seems
When you can have what you want by the simplest of means
Be careful not to mess with the balance of things
Because everything is not what it seems!

Barack Obama's America, In His Own Words
Townhall, by Charlotte Hays

Sometimes in unguarded moments the Obamas have said revealing things that later needed to be explained away—the president’s “bitter clingers” remark and Mrs. Obama’s being proud of her country “for the first time in my adult life” spring to mind.

The president seems to be making more of these bloopers as the pressure of running for re-election on his record gets to him.
Speaking at a fundraising event with New York millionaires and billionaires the other day, he said this:

Our kids are going to be fine...And I always tell Malia and Sasha, look, you guys, I don’t worry about you . . . they’re on a path that is going to be successful, even if the country as a whole is not successful. But that’s not our vision of America. I don’t want an America where my kids are living behind walls and gates, and can’t feel a part of a country that is giving everybody a shot.

Where to begin? This remark is fascinating on so many levels. First and foremost, .

Juan Williams: He's (Mitt Romney) had a rough couple days here.

John Sununu: Yeah, he had a rough week. Obama gets endorsed by Hugo Chavez and Mitt Romney gets endorsed by Lech Walesa. That's a rough week, isn't it?

Let's get right down to it. Let's start up with the little dust up in England. Can you imagine the scandalous exhibitionist newspapers in England criticizing an American presidential candidate for saying exactly the same thing that those same newspapers had in their own headlines the week before? Come on.

The American press hand-in-hand with the British press is making something out of nothing. Mitt Romney had a solid trip.

Immigration agents sue to stop
Obama’s non-deportation policy

Washington Times, by Stephen Dinan

Saying they're fed up with being told they can't do their jobs, 10 immigration agents on Thursday sued the Obama administration to try to halt the president's new non-deportation policy and an earlier memo instructing them not to go after rank-and-file illegal immigrants.

The lawsuit, filed in a federal court in Texas, adds a legal controversy to the political fight that has been brewing over President Obama's immigration policies, which have steadily narrowed the range of immigrants the government is targeting for deportation.

The 10 U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and deportation officers said Mr. Obama's policies force them to choose between enforcing the law and being reprimanded by superiors, or listening to superiors and violating their own oaths of office and a 1996 law that requires them to put those who entered the country illegally into deportation proceedings.

Upping the ante, the agents are being represented by a high-profile lawyer, Kris W. Kobach, secretary of state in Kansas and the chief promoter of state immigration crackdowns such as Arizona's tough law.

"ICE is at a point now where agents are being told to break federal law, they're pretty much told that any illegal alien under age of 31 is going to be let go. You can imagine, these law enforcement officers are being put in a horrible position," Mr. Kobach said.

Dem Convention Chairman Admits Obama Economy Broken
Breitbart's Big Government, by William Bigelow

Appearing on CNN Newsroom Monday afternoon, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who is also the chairman of the upcoming Democratic National Convention, unwittingly confirmed exactly why his boss in the White House is going to lose in November.

When asked by CNN’s anchor Brooke Baldwin whether Democrats feel threatened right now, as Obama is behind in North Carolina, Obama himself is out on the campaign trail, and Michelle Obama is frequenting late-night talk shows in a week traditionally reserved for the opposing party, Villaraigosa replied:

Really, what a campaign is … it sets the framework for the cam – I’m sorry … what the convention is, it sets the framework for the campaign, and it really … when people are actually watching … most of us, except for you and I (sic) aren’t really watching what’s going on … most of America’s working, trying to put food on their table …”

So Villaraigosa, whose job it is to drum up support for the Anointed One, freely admits that the conventions, which air in prime time, won’t be seen because people are working overtime in order to feed their families.
