Charges filed against man arrested at haunted house CROWN POINT | A Crown Point man who police say visited a school-sponsored haunted house and inappropriately touched two girls was charged Wednesday with felony child molesting. Peter Rushton, 42, of the 3900 block of W. 129th Court, faces 16 years in prison if convicted. The Lake Street School PTO sponsored a haunted house at the On The Square Sports Academy. Rushton attended the haunted house Oct. 27, according to the probable cause affidavit. Two 11-year-old girls said Rushton walked into the room in which they were working and pretended to be blind. He stumbled toward each of them and touched their chests, saying, "What do we have here?" the report states. The girls pushed him away and told an adult in charge. A security officer called the police, who arrested Rushton. He told them he was getting "spooked" by some of the people in costume and he was "spooking them back," the report states.
