But chuckmo..you ARE stupid. Incredibly so. Anyway, I'm sure your permission makes everyone feel better, and more important. BTW if typing everything in an obnoxious color does the same for you, I want you to know it's OK with me.

Plus, I don't call him "stupid" because that is what I think of him, I call him "stupid" because that is what he is..

Willfully ignorant.

Never misses a chance to miss the point.

Stupid.

Even his buddy Paul has quit trying to defend him.

I am serious as well. He's not a bright man. Throw a rabid and incredibly angry left-wing fanaticism into the mix and you have....chuckmo48. If this guy is typical of an education degree and subsequent union protection for 30 years, then no further studies are needed as to why our children are falling behind the rest of the world.

If there were a total ban on smoking then you couldn't smoke pot either.

Personally I'd like to see a statewide ban on Democrats in the house who refuse to come to work. Short of that they should be put in jail for the number of days they subverted democracy by fleeing the state like a fugative from justice. ;)

Walker to run for Brown’s state House seat

January 8, 2012 2:03AM

Tony Walker has declared he will be a candidate in the Democratic Party primary for State Representative in District 3.

Walker, an atttorney, kicked off his campaign Wednesday while rallying with labor unions at the Statehouse in support of collective bargaining rights and against the Republican sponsored right-to-work legislation.

The newly drawn District 3 includes the Gary neighborhoods of Miller, Emerson, Marshalltown, Horace Mann, Brunswick and Midtown. The district also includes Lake Station, New Chicago and most of Hobart. Charlie Brown, a Gary Democrat, has held the seat since 1982.

Region Democrats' legislation ignored in Indiana House

By Dan Carden dan.carden@nwi.com, (317) 637-9078 | Posted: Saturday, January 21, 2012 7:00 pm | (31) Comments

INDIANAPOLIS | A side effect of the ongoing fight over right-to-work in the Indiana House is an almost total lack of action on any legislation sponsored by Democrats.

None of the nearly 50 proposals authored by Northwest Indiana's 10 House Democrats is likely to get a committee hearing and vote before Friday's House committee deadline. That means the proposals are dead for the year unless later amended onto another bill moving through the legislative process.

The legislation offered by region House Democrats covers a wide range of issues.

Senior citizens earning less than $50,000 a year would be exempt from state income tax if House Bill 1256, sponsored by state Rep. Shelli VanDenburgh, D-Crown Point, became law.

College students would not have to pay sales tax on textbook purchases under House Bill 1357, sponsored by state Rep. Mara Candelaria Reardon, D-Munster. But state Rep. Vernon Smith, D-Gary, would allow Lake County communities to impose a municipal sales tax under House Bill 1346.

State Rep. Dan Stevenson, D-Highland, created a process to recall elected or appointed officials in House Bill 1098. He also proposed in House Bill 1099 eliminating the requirement that a primary election voter publicly declare his or her party affiliation.

House Bill 1008, sponsored by state Rep. Chuck Moseley, D-Portage, creates incentives for manufacturers to open wind turbine factories in Indiana that would use American-made steel to produce turbine blades.

Employees in that factory, or at any Indiana business, could not be discriminated against in hiring based on their long-term unemployment status under House Bill 1161, sponsored by state Rep. Scott Pelath, D-Michigan City.

If state Rep. Earl Harris, D-East Chicago, could win passage of House Bill 1308, the state law capping Lake County's property tax levy as punishment for not imposing a county income tax would be repealed.

Even state Rep. Charlie Brown, D-Gary, was forced to abandon his own smoking ban proposal, House Bill 1063, and sign on as co-author to a Republican-sponsored plan, House Bill 1149, to keep the issue alive.

State Rep. Chet Dobis, D-Merrillville, also has co-sponsored legislation with House Republicans.

House Speaker Brian Bosma, R-Indianapolis, said he's not surprised committee chairmen are not acting on Democrats' proposals.

"If people aren't here, it just makes it difficult to move their legislation," Bosma said.

Democrats have boycotted eight of 13 House sessions trying to slow passage of right-to-work legislation.

Nevertheless, state Rep. Linda Lawson, D-Hammond, the deputy Democratic leader, said she had little hope Bosma would ever allow Democratic proposals to be heard.

"It's pretty much what happened last year, and it's what happened in '05 and '06 when they were in control then," said Lawson, whose House Bill 1110 would use casino tax revenue to fund the Regional Bus Authority.

"A lot of people have bills that directly affect their district, and that's unfair," Lawson said. "They should get to have those bills heard."

You have got to love watching the Lake County Dems shoot themselves in the foot.

Laws like this already exist in states all over the country, including Illinois. I love being able to go to smoke free restaurants and bars there. Smokers do not have the right to pollute the air that others have to breathe. I have already contacted my state reps, asking them to support this law.

Looks like the Flea party has left you high and dry again!

Ind. Senate considers carve-outs to smoking ban

By TOM LoBIANCO Associated Press February 28, 2012 9:58AM

Updated: February 28, 2012 11:09PM

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana senators on Tuesday gutted a proposal to ban smoking statewide, leading anti-tobacco advocates to oppose the severely weakened measure.

Senators voted to exempt bars and charitable gambling operations from the proposed ban. They also expanded other carve-outs already added by House lawmakers, including exemptions for the state’s gambling industry, private clubs like VFW lodges and tobacco and cigar stores.

Amanda Estridge, Indiana lobbyist for the American Cancer Society, said her group opposes the measure as overhauled by the Senate but will push for lawmakers to change it in a conference committee. The Senate is scheduled to take another vote on the ban tomorrow, deciding whether the measure gets hashed out in committee.

Estridge was skeptical that the Senate was as committed to making Indiana the 30th state to ban smoking statewide as the Indiana House is, which passed the measure 62-34 earlier this month.

“It’s smoke and mirrors to make it look like they’re doing something,” she said of the Senate’s efforts.

ACS and other anti-smoking advocates have typically chafed at any exemptions, but supported the modified House ban this year with the hopes of finally getting something in place.

“This is ridiculous. Obviously a majority of those amendments are intended to kill the bill,” said Rep. Charlie Brown, D-Gary, after the Senate vote. Brown co-authored the measure with Rep. Eric Turner, R-Cicero, and watched quietly from the back of the Senate as the ban was weakened bit by bit.

But supporters of the new exemptions, such as Sen. Jean Leising, R-Oldsburg, said the vast majority of businesses would still be covered by the ban.

“Your implement stores, your lawnmower stores, go down the street there will not be any smoking in any of those places,” said Leising, who authored most of the changes. However, after Tuesday’s debate she said she was unsure whether she would vote for the final measure.

The broadest carve-out from senators Tuesday was for Indiana’s bars and taverns, whose owners complained to a Senate panel that their clientele would flock to casinos and private clubs not covered by the smoking ban. But the Senate also added more time for cigar and tobacco stores to open before the ban kicks in, trimmed the space outside public buildings that would be smoke-free from 12 feet to 8 feet and exempted veterans nursing homes from the ban.

“I will vote for this horrible bill and hope it makes it to conference,” said Senate Democratic Leader Vi Simpson, of Bloomington, referencing the conference committee. She said she will ask Democrats to support the measure as well.

Exemptions have historically been the stumbling block for the ban. Some supporters of the ban this year have held their noses and voted for the measure they call hypocritical.

The ban got a boost this year after Gov. Mitch Daniels included it in his final legislative agenda before he leaves office.
